View Full Version : A British bulldog to win crufts slimsid2000 31-01-2010, 14:40 I predict a British bulldog will win crufts this year. what are your predictions? http://www.freewebs.com/dragons_den/british_bulldog.jpg sheff290 31-01-2010, 14:44 the dogue de bordeaux as last year was the first year they could be showed after coming off the import register vizsla 31-01-2010, 15:43 Hungariam Vizsla. MARY POPPINS 31-01-2010, 16:01 I wish nice big German Shepherd, a proper one, but it will never happen Rainrescue 31-01-2010, 16:20 your right there MaryP - they have ruined the breed with the terrible backs. sadly what ever wins it - there will be thousands jumping on the bandwaggon to breed and make money - when decent breeders have put effort, time and money into getting a good healthy dog - from good healthy lines. I hope one wins thats not an easy one to breed. I hope the bulldog doesn't win - even though i love them, because idiots breed them, don't realise most need cesarean's and leave the bitches in agony or to die. Then throw them away when realise they can't make money - plus the price tag has gone through the roof - which makes them more sought after I would go for the ........... the mongrel even though i Love ddb's i hope they don't win or they will bring on more unscrupulous breeders running the breed down hill. Crufts - sort your act out Lotti 31-01-2010, 16:41 I agree with everything you've said Rain... except - it's not Crufts that are unscrupulous and bring the breed down hill, it's the idiots that watch it (although I appreciate that Crufts judges seem to like putting deformed and unhealthy breeds through!) Personally, I wouldn't want to see one of these breeds with deformaties and bad health to win - that said, I wouldn't want a dally to win either - because Disney did them enough damage without them winning Crufts... to be honest - thanks to the idiots that jump on the bandwagon - no breed is safe! Rainrescue 31-01-2010, 22:35 I know Its all sad The thing is that Crufts - like the Kennel Club is a very rich fat business. I wish that every puppy registered, the kc donated a percentage of it to go to that specific breed rescue - then each breed rescue had to pay a percentage of their income - to none breed rescue. Therefore, those with lots of puppies being registered as pure breds - are the breeds that are going to be dumping in rescue the most - therefore, there would be funds there to support the carnage and the wastage and the debris that falls by the way side. If a percentage went to pure breed - ie all the staffies being bred for profit - and most of them are fantastic well bred dogs don't get me wrong - but the kc would donate even £1.00 of all puppy registrations back to help the breed at the opposite end of the line to those hundreds being shown at Crufts.. Sometimes they turn a blind eye. I have been to many breeders kennels where i have seen rows upon rows upon rows of poor dogs in there - perfectly healthy, perfectly bred, perfectly well 'looked after' and yet - it plays on my mind constantly that this is just as cruel as the rescue kennels of the abandoned dogs - and yet - nobody thinks that this is cruel. These poor show dogs have no human company apart from being taken out every now and then for a bath, a brush and a visit to the show ring or the stud dog. A dog is only happy when receiving exercise and work and most of them - some attention from their master. Please don't everyone jump on me that there are good breeders out there - of course there are. Sadly - a lot of them just loose the plot looking for either the lime light or the money. sheff290 31-01-2010, 23:11 i agree rainrescue ive seen so much bad with breeders thats why i know them all but associate with few by the way the ddb are already rinsed, some idiot asked me tonight if i would swap a pup for 2 tortoises WHAT! Rainrescue 31-01-2010, 23:14 hahahahah!!!! god i luv a gud laff wonder where they managed to nick the poor tortoises from yep - lots of ddbs ending up in rescue, and tbh i don't think most homes today can cope with any dog. They are all that clean and hygienic. We took one of ours for a walk through town today for a bit of socialsation - I think a lot of people have no feelings for animals what so ever any more and anyone with an ounce of empathy or kindness are of a dying breed themselves. My bold Had to laugh at that! I think the state of my tip - sorry, house - is a fair indication of where my priorities lie!! :hihi: I was talking to a friend earlier, who usually comes up with her pooch on a Sunday. Poor little beast had the trots overnight, so the visit was cancelled. She was woken up about 2ish by her dog crying, went to let her out and discovered she'd had an accident at the top of the stairs! Cleared that up and went back to bed, only to be woken later by more crying, went downstairs and discovered the kitchen was a bit of a mess. Mopping the kitchen floor at 5am was a fun experience for her, but her only comment was that she's glad she always shuts the door to the room at night, so at least her carpet wasn't pooped on. vwkittie 01-02-2010, 15:54 I voted Maine Coon :D British Bull Dogs are horrendous - if they didn't previously exist and one was born by accident, a freak genetic mutation, it'd probably be put down out of kindness because people would be shocked by it's appearance and health. |
