View Full Version : Why does York Smell of chocolate? neeeeeeeeeek 14-08-2005, 16:21 Just been to York, it smells of chocolate. Does it have a chocolate factory or something? Zenmaster 14-08-2005, 16:41 York is home to Rowntrees, makers of chocolate. And there used to be a Terry's factory there as well, but I think its moving to Eastern Europe. Herbaliser 14-08-2005, 16:41 There's a big Nestle Rowntree factory a few miles out of the city centre. I used to live the other side of York so couldn't smell chocloate, but at certain times of year there was a strong smell of what I was told was sugar beet refinement. Almost a nice smell! Strix 14-08-2005, 16:43 I was once told that Yorkie bars were in fact made in Goole..... :hihi: drolnhoj 14-08-2005, 16:51 Originally posted by Strix I was once told that Yorkie bars were in fact made in Goole..... :hihi: And if that was true they would have been called "goolies"! leapy78 14-08-2005, 17:25 When I was in Edinburgh a few mths ago I thought it smelled of Bran Flakes, but apparently it was the local brewery that I could smell. marshy 14-08-2005, 22:04 i used to live in York and used to love that chocolate smell!mmmmmmmmm! however there is also a sugarbeet factory in york too and at certain times of the year the city smells of that!believe me-it reeks! just be thankful you got the chocolate!:gag: |
