did anyone else see stange lights over sheffield last night? (13th august around 11:30pm to 00:30am). i live in high green and could see it very clearly. it was moving very fast in the clouds from side to side and up and down and occasionally wavering. it was to high for a helicopter and moving to fast.
what is even more strange is the massive jet that i saw speeding towards the area of the light, it makes me think that there must be something wrong for the jet to be sent out by the government or whoever. im not saying that i think we are being invaded by little green men, infact i dont believe in aliens. i was just wondering if any1 else saw it.

It is possible to see satellites on a good night, they tend to look as if they are wandering in the sky, i used to see them often when i lived in Scotland as there was little light pollution.
Sometimes they would go off at 90 degree angles although they didn't seem to move very fast.

It might just be that an hour or two is not long enough to let the relevant people all read this thread???

it might be the leonid meteor shower that appears every year about this time

noname....... i think if the RAF sent an aircraft up to intercept it, it wouldn't be a massive jet, it would probably be a couple of fighters. Could there have been a laser show ??

i doubt it was a laser show, no beams could be seen.

Or perhaps someone is having a bit of a laugh here, it wasn't red with gold wheel trims was it?

You very rarely see the actual beams from laser shows, just the places where the beams hit the clouds. This can give the impression of circular discs moving around among, or above the clouds, and can look quite impressive.

it wasn't the leonids,but the perseids ;)
the skys are full of stuff, mainly light polution :mad: but its incredible how many planes and satalites are up there every night (although ive yet to see a satalite turn 90 degrees :D) ,
if your not realy familier with the night sky or goings on therein but are interested, then phone the sheffield astronomical society,

YES you are right paul 88. i never said it was aliens. i dont believe in them. i am a big skeptic. i hate people who jump to conclusions and explain enything they dont understand as the paranormal as much as you do. think before you reply the next time kenH and all you other fools who misunderstood me :rant:

There are plenty of unidentified flying objects out there - just no aliens. We have been observing as a group since 1934 and no one has ever been probed ;)

But if you fancy some astronomy, satellites etc (just not aliens) then please visit us at Mayfield Valley
