Hi there! I was wondering if anybody knows of any outdoors areas in sheffield that would be suitable for roller-skating (old-school skates-four wheels). Basically somewhere with a smooth ground and a bit of space. I used to go to a park when I lived in liverpool but as I havn't been in Sheffield that long I don't really know the place that well. Any ideas?

We used to skate in the country parks round Peterborough (where it's flat), but struggled to find a good place in Sheffield as many parks are either hilly, have poor paths, or are a bit too busy for hurtling about in

We shortlisted millhouses park but never got round to actually doing it

Thank you. I'll check out millhouses park. If not it'll have to be the indoor skating rink. anyone any ideas on when is best to go? don't want to be surrounded by four year olds falling over! me falling over will be enough!

the only time you'll get skating without many kids is after 10pm at night for over 18s. I know cos I take my kids rollerskating there and get the flyers regular. Im afraid outdoor skating is crap but you may manage it at the forum park if youre not embarrassed skating in front of bmx bikers and skateboarders!

Skate central is usually quiet on a tuedsay or wednesday evening. Im a member of the Sheffield Steel rollergirls and we sometime go there on a Wednesday when theres less kids. If you ever fancy coming for a skate with us let me know.

Thanks for the replies people. I had a look at your page on myspace (I think it was myspace) Dolly Day, it looks like a lot of fun, but brutal! Might see you at skate central to get a proper look at what it's about though.
