So we move house and I have to reluctantly give up my virgin cable broadband/phone/TV because there is no cable in my new area and seeing as the new house is already connected up to Sky we think, what the hell, we'll go with Lucifer Murdoch and get their phone/tv/broadband package.

However today we get the bumpf through the door and it says we have to wait up to 7 weeks from the time they install the TV to when we can expect broadband?

Am I missing something here? Why would it possibly take 7 weeks? The house already has the dish and a phoneline. Surely it should be a simple matter just to reconnect. It's only Walkley, I'm not asking for broadband on the moon.

Anyone else had a similar wait or will it all go quickly and smoothly?

They say that length if time to cover themselves incase BT screw up and they have to get it fixed, after all, the phone system is owned by BT and it only takes one problem or mistake at BTs end to cause a huge delay... I wouldn't worry about it, it's usually easily within a couple if weeks

Cheers...imagine being without the net for 7 weeks, I'd have to interact with real people for a change! :o

They said that to me, and it arrived within 5 days or so (after complaining that 7 weeks was totally unacceptable).

If I recall correctly, ours was up and running in about 3-4 days.

I got in touch with Sky on the 21st to tell them we wanted to switch our phone and broadband over to them from BT, both were switched over yesterday and I've just had the pleasure of watching Tight Lines live via the Sky player whilst my wife and daughter hog the TV. So far so good.

3 and a half weeks. Pathetic in this day and age.
