First of all , can I say that I'm not at all interested in football as such [which may be a dodgy thing to say in the ,'Sports Chat ' section !] so I've definitely no , "axe to grind " when it comes to talking about the Sheffield teams.
However statistics are interesting , I think , and I got to thinking about the size of the two clubs .
I would imagine that Sheff. Wednesday's ground holds more people but who gets the bigger crowds when they re in the same division ?
What about club membership and season ticket holders ?
One more thing that someone might know about -----do the supporters tend to live ,generally , near the respective grounds ? Someone once told me that the North and East of Sheffield generally supported Wednesday and the South and West supported United. Any clues ?
One good thing about not supporting one team over another is that I always root for either team if I see where they've been playing any team outside Sheffield .

Wednesday have a bigger fanbase and their average attendances are higher than United's. I expect Wednesday also generate more revenue from merchandising. Hillsborough's capacity is also higher than Bramall Lane.

For some reason, a few wednesday fans are completely obsessed by this.

Being the bigger fanbase makes means sod all if you cant deliver the goods on the pitch..... we have more season ticket holders now, than we did in the Premiership that means nothing to the size of any club no matter where you travel/come from to watch your team. Only time will tell if the new season ticket holders will renew their support...
