I may soon be moving house.
If I move to somewhere without cable, is therer any way I can retain my Blueyonder.co.uk email address?
Thanks

I use mine when I go abroad. All you do is go onto the Virginmedia web page and get your mail from there.
It depends on whether or not Virginmedia close your account completely or not when you move.
Every ISP I've had (pre broadband) have kept the account open, as long as I keep using it (polling for email does that).
But a broadband account may be different.
Perhaps you could downgrade to a dialup account when you move (don't have to use dial up to access it though!)?
That will keep your account active thereby allowing access through webmail, or possibly POP if you use a local client (like Outlook Express).
Alternatively, stay with Virginmedia at the new place, on ADSL rather than cable, and just get them to transfer the addresses etc across.
Sorry, are you still keeping your Virgin account going or are you switching servers?
If you are switching providers you will lose your account. I found this out the hard way so now I have a webmail account and use that, it will be yours no matter who your provider is.

I switched from Virgin (Blueyonder) to Virgin (BT). Never occured to me that I would lose the accounts but I did and they couldn't get them back.

The question, really, is whether I can have a Blueyonder account via an ordinary (not cable) phone line. I wouldn't want to pay VM to keep my account open just to get my Blueyonder email AND pay another ISP for my connection.
But having looked at the VM website, it apears that I can use 'Virginmedia national' (or something like that) that doesn't require cable.
I realise I could use a Hotmail account or simiar, but I always tend to feel that such accounts make you appear a bit fly-by-night!

well if you are cancelling VM cable you will lose the @blueyonder email address. If you arrange to have Virgin National you would get a @virginmedia.com email address.
Basically if you dont pay for cable you wont have Blueyonder ADDRESS

Although I pay for cable and have an @virginmedia.com address. Why not get your own domain name? you can then have webmail and your own e-mail address for less than £10 a year.
