I used to be in the same situation.....I never want to be young again, ever!

I used to go psycho if anyone even looked at me

Try the mini-pill, can't remember which one helped me but I remember trying two different types

Before that though Try vitamin B6 (pyridoxine hydrochloride)
It helped to keep me stable for a long time, it did reduce the anger considerably

Please get a check up too, hormones fluctuate for no reason but make sure it's just a glitch for your own peace of mind

Good luck to you and bad cess to all those doctors still out there who say it's your imagination!

It's normal I'm afraid I have always suffered with mood swings and really heavy unpredictable periods, and today is no acception!

If your not on the pill go to the Doctors, My doctor put me on it when I was 15, for no other reason than to regulate my periods. and it' did work.

but two kids later and trying for another baby I'm back to square one again.

my advice is on the days you feel down keep a low profile, don't do anything that you dont want to do. buy some pain killers ,get to Lush, buy lavender bath bombs, a big bar of chocolate lock the door and relax. it's only for a few days

hope that you feel better soon xx

thanks splodge, i dont wana go on the pill or anything as i dont want to suffer any side effects at all, i.e weight gain (problems enough with out that!), spots (just left the teenage years) and infertility (how will i get all those months off work!). what is vitamin b6, can i get it from boots?! thanks for your advice :-)

The doctor's should be your first port of call - just in case there's a reason for this happening.

Highly stressful situations can send your periods haywire, and arguably it's stress that already exists that gets emphasised to create PMT/PMS, even if you haven't noticed you're actually stressed already :(

Try evening primrose capsules too. My mum swears by them, and I'm sure they are the only reason my father is still alive ;)

thanks strix, is evening primrose readily available? is it a pill (sorry for my obtuseness!!)? i dont want to go to the drs if i can sort it out myslef, im more an ostrich, i read horror stories on the net that i could be having periods every two weeks is cos of a cyst in my ovaries, nice cheery thought!

I wouldn't worry about the cysts to much, But I do think that you need to see a doctor.

There may be more that she can offer you than the pill, it was 17 years ago when they put me on it.

remember you can request to see a female Doctor. don't be embaressed, Doctors talk about these things all the time.

If it's affecting your life this much you need to sort it out.

you'll be fine

B6 is available in any chemist or supermarket. Evening Primrose helps as well but not as good when you're really suffering but it did help with the cramps and er...tender parts!

The mini pill is a lot less likely to cause any weight gain or side effects but not as effective against pregnancy, I carried on using condoms with it because of the risk of an ectopic pregnancy but that was a lot of years ago. The doc can advise you much better if the home remedies don't work

But get yourself off to the doctor's too  ;)

Even as a man I know that heavy periods every 2 weeks for 3 months when previously you were 'normal' isn't right.

I would definitely get to the docs. There are a number of hormonal conditions that can kick things off, and it's well worth getting investigations underway.

Hope it all pans out OK,

Joe

I wouldn't worry they probably won't, and if they want to just say you're not comfortable with it because its your time of the month (or fortnight in your case!). They will probably have a feel of your stomach and perhaps take a blood test. Good luck hope it goes ok and they give you some answers.

Hi weenireeni, Just to let you know your not on your own !, I have been going through exactly the same thing as you, although i am slightly older than you and have had 4 children. My periods were as regular as clockwork till about 4 months agothen started having one every 2 weeks, went to the doctors and she told me to keep a dairy of when i came on and since doing this my periods have started getting back to normal. Also when they 1st started, coming every two weeks i was under a lot af stress.

Get yourself off to the doctors to put your mind at rest.

Vitamin B6 and evening primrose oil do work as i put my eldest on them when she started with mood swings.:)

Depends on what they are investigating - for blood tests it's probably a good time but for looking for things like bleeding fibroids probably less so.

LOVE YOURSELF!!!

Be yourself.
Enjoy yourself
make no excuses
if you want to, revel in it

You have to change your mindset and stop seeing your emotions as a negative thing.

Nice one Satan. Giving your babe the best, hey? Just ended 4 yrs, and on a new moon too! Talk about good timing.

Weenie, have you heard of Cycling with the Moon? It's when your cycle is in tune with the phases of the moon. As women we have so lost touch with nature, due to many things, but I know many women who do this and have trouble-free cycles. It's a lot more complicated than just this, but for a start, try to sleep with the light of the moon on your lower abdomen. Even if the moon is shrouded in cloud, just lie with the curtains open and get one of those in-flight eye mask things so that you achieve complete darkness. It might take a few months (prob sounds like forever to you right now!) I'll PM you more if you are interested. Let me know.

And "here here" to Anabel!
Blessings
