can anyone tell me why house slippers which contain a gold or yellow lion motif in th top corner of each slipper are considered oap wear?its become a standing joke with my eldest son and his girlfriend and they in fact bought me a pair for my birthday as thes are apparently the type of things i should be wearing now as i am middle ageish!its like a subtle hint as i am very trendy for my age and often can pass as 30ish.they say i should be a pipe and slippers man although i know theyd sooner have me as i am.at this moment i am sat at the pc proudly wearing my blue and grey lion slippers with pride!:)
does anyone else out there have a pair?

Im a pensioner, and have never heard of them.Is it a proper lion on them? or just a yellow mark ? I never wear carpet slippers( well hardly) only when coming out of the bath.Rest of the time I just wear my ordinary shoes right up to going to bed.

hi pattricia,
thanx for getting in touch, yes the motif is a real lion(gold coloured).i do know of at least one other person who owns a pair--my wifes cousins husband who is in his early 50s but i dont think it would worry him whatever he had on his feet!anyway you never know there might be another person around who owns a pair of splendid lion slippers:)
take care then bye 4 now.
