View Full Version : Napolians Casino - You ever won there?
I went for the first time last week with some friends and ended up losing a substantial amount of cash!!. . . tried as many of the games as my budget would allow but came out feeling a tad angry! especially as the man next to me was dishing out £20 notes on almost every bet and winning sh*tloads!!!
You ever been? won, lost?
Been a few times, mainly drinking with some spectating, never bothered betting :) That guy may have won while you were there, but if he carries on going back he will lose out - people who run casinos aren't poor!
(the exception being games of skill rather than chance such as poker, where you are betting against the other players rather than the house - and then you have to be good! :))
Gang of us went to the one on Eccy Road the other week. One lad came out nearly 50 quid down, another nearly £50 up, so I'm inclined to think its swings and roundabouts.
You might have point though Rich - the lad who came out £50 up was down until he started playing poker.....
It's not just swings and roundabouts, it's games carefully tuned so that random chance will give a percentage of money to the house - so in the long run you WILL lose :) You can try counting cards etc, but don't think the casinos haven't thought of that idea! This (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/0099468239) is a good read about how a group of people managed to make money on blackjack, but you require balls as well as skill!
Poker actually scares me more, but that's because I don't really know how to play (or more correctly I don't know how to bet!), so I'd be one of the ones the decent players would be making their money from!
fnkysknky 13-08-2005, 14:10 If you don't know what you're doing you can lose the lot very quickly - obviously some games are better than others. If you want to make the money last a bit longer then play Blackjack and look up some basic strategy theory on it - you can reduce the house advantage to 0.5% just by following basic rules. If you card count then you can actually gain an advantage over the house but it's definitely not easy and they won't be too happy when they realise what you're up to :)
We have a few Indian casinos where we live, get scalped every time we go
lets face it.......theres only one winner!
its me!    hahaha
there are only two kinds of gamblers....losers & liers
Hi,

Im up from my two visits to the casino but agree with everyone who only says one winner !! The House
If not off you then they will have won off 20 more people to compensate !!

Stick to that and you'll have done better than 99% of all gambers that ever lived. :)
Gambling is like any other form of entertainment, it costs money.
My mate went there the other week - he spent £200 and ended up winning £2700!!! . . . He has a technique that he says works everytime.
I've now learnt this off him and will be trying it myself at the end of the month when payday arrives - will report back......
From Miami if it works,
From the gutter if it doesn't!
Jimbob1989 07-10-2005, 16:42 My mums been, just for drinks, said she liked it. Didn't make any mention of the tables.

Only bet what you can 'afford' to lose, or it'll feel like a long month.... ;)

Haha - so many people claim to have systems that 'work everytime' - the only way to do so is by card counting at Blackjack or cheating. Neither of which will impress the casino :)
I've been around gambling all my life, managed a bookies - computerised several systems that people have created or been given and I've yet to see one that consistantly makes money.

If it is so good why is he telling other people about it?
But good luck anyway.

It is probably the same system to use for horse racing and footaball that people try to sell. It is a very basic system that can work and makes sense but can prove to be costly when it doesn't work. If anyone wants it i'll post it but it really is very basic.
Phanerothyme 07-10-2005, 20:42 I made £190 off a £40 stake on Blackjack at Naps on Eccy Road about 5 years ago. Weird thing was that I was very drunk at the time, and had to borrow £20 to keep playing.
It was mainly a run of blind luck, and sticking on low numbers and busting the dealer halfway through the shoe if the deals have been low in courts and 10s.
A better way of doing it is to spot a winning blackjack player, and bet on his box (if the casino permits side-betting on BJ).
The best way to win at roulette is 'top hatting'. This, however, is cheating.

Yup sounds like a basic version of card counting - keeping track of how many 10/Court cards have been played and adjusting your bets accordingly. Any normal person would call this skill as you are using information available to everyone but the casino insist it's cheating..... hmmmmmm.
Even playing basic strategy then you can reduce the house edge to 0.5%ish - with card counting and ruthless betting you can get a 3%/4% edge over the house depending on rules but you can be sure the pit boss will take some interest in you :)

Most basic systems are based around the Martingale system which involves doubling your bet everytime you lose - the thinking being that you've got to win at some point which will then cover your losses and make you a profit (even if it's only a very small one) as long as the odds are evens or better. They seem to forget that your bets can and will get very large very quickly when you're on a losing streak and so you either empty your betting bank or you hit the maximum bet and can't put enough on to cover your previous bets.
Of course the system you mention may not be based on that but most seem to be :)
mr.blaze 08-10-2005, 10:05 I've won a few times on the tables, my sister seems to always win more than me though. She walked out with almost 300 quid the other day.

To think I nearly had a career in gambling. But, I do prefer life on the other side of the table.
I remember, as a croupier, getting four blackjacks in a row. The punters were disgusted and I was moved to another table.
fnkysknky 08-10-2005, 10:18 Haha, it's like being a manager at a bookies - some people actually thought it was me winning all their money off them, I wish :)
Always amuses me when someone notices a croupier block spinning on roulette - half the casino flocks to the table, the croupier wakes up and realises what he/she's doing and then they all get the face on again :hihi:
