Would be a fantastic signing for Wednesday, but how would they pay for it? If there is any truth in it there must surely be someone leaving.

Sky news just mentioned wednesday signing someone from derby on loan.

He's a big lad and never seems to get much out of the Blades, Morgan loves playing against him.

Every time i've seen him i've been reasonably impressed by him though, big of a poor mans Henderson who puts himself round and lets others know he's there. Something Wednesday lack.

I'd say he'd be a decent signing but he's a first teamer at PNE so not sure how Wednesday would fund such a move.

I thought a player was only allowed to be loaned to a club a maximum of 2 times in a season (or am i making that up!!!).

In all fairness i also didn't realise Varney had scored 6 goals this season for Wednesday.

Im almost certain he hasnt scored that many me, but saying that ive just been looking on the wednesday site and its saying the same on there, not too bad then 6 goals in 18 games, i didnt think hed scored that many, its probably because hes been here in 2 spells.

I remember a cracker Varney scored against Boro earlier on in the season at home off the top of my head because it was merely a great finish. I think it was literally from Kick Off, he blasted one in off the Under side of the crossbar? you still lost but great goal.

I did a quick search using BBC Sports pages and found that Varney had scored in the following games for you just to refresh your memories........

League Games:-

(H) Sheffield Wednesday 2 - 2 Newcastle United

(A) Bristol City 1 - 1 Sheffield Wednesday

(H) Sheffield Wednesday 3 - 1 Cardiff

(H) Wednesday 1- 3 Middlesboro

His other two goals for wednesday came the season before this one where he scored 2 against Southampton.

As for Parkin I can't see any truth in it all to be fair, I mean his wage demands would out-weigh what Wednesday can offer at the minute surely? And being the cult hero that he is up there, I'm sure there would be hell to pay if they off-loaded him to a championship rival?

The fans were outraged when they sacked Irvine so they might be on a mission to win the fans back so unlikely to let him go ... lets just hope ferguson doesnt rate him coz id take him at hillsborough no question!

sayin that i doubt he would come, thought he hated us!! he celebrates like he hates us everytime he scores against us anyway (which seems to happen quite a lot!)

Parkin is a frustrating player. He has almost got enough ability to be a premier league player but hasn't got the right attitude. He reported back for pre-season training a few stone over-weight when he was at Hull City and never really got back match fit.

Dunno about PL player, he's rough and tumble and i doubt he'd get anywhere near the ball in the PL. However he's a good Championship player.

He's a fat lad and getter bigger by the season, i read somewhere another 'big boned' player, Christian Nade reported back to training weighing in at 17 stone!!

When he can be bothered he has excellent control and a fair bit of skill. Maybe he just uses his size these days, not seen him much since he left Hull.

Thanks for the research Matt.
The Preston forums I've read the fans can't wait to get shut of Parkin.
