I was just wondering if anyone on here was attending the Senta networking event on the 27th of Jan?

Thsi will be my first networking event and was wondering if there was any tips to pass out.

If your networking is related to Web Hosting/Design I'd go armed with a working website to pass people onto. www.backdoorsolutions.co.uk seems to have protection so isn't viewable.

The event isnt aimed at Web Hosting/Design, from what i have been told there will be a mixture of businesses there. As for our website, it is only down for today while we have some new pages added.

The event is being held at the forum in sheffield city center.

Have a look through some of the other networking threads on here, there's a lot of good advice posted.

My main tip would be determine what you want from the event. Are you looking for direct business ie customers or are you wanting to develop a wider network of contacts who will introduce you to contacts who may be potential clients?

What type of businesses are going? If it's SENTA it could be mainly start-ups. Cut your teeth on this event. Practice telling people how your business helps your clients. Then look to spread your wings a bit further. There's loads happening in Sheff but they won't all work for you.

Thanks for the advice, there is 46 different businesses attending and range from start ups to 2 years established i am told. I would have to say main goal is to obtain contacts and get our name more widely known as this will help more in future.

It starts at 6pm and finishes at 9pm, as for signups im not sure, i was offered a place from my consultant at BIG so i dont know how people get places.

Good old Sheffield - two events on the same day...:confused:

maybe the senta start ups arent mostly chamber members.

It is a speed networking event. Speak to 50 people in the hope that one is remotelessly interesting and useful to your business. I wouldn't normally bother but they have promised free buffet food and one free beer so I'm there.

The site is still down (any reason for not posting a holding page with your contact details and a brief summary of what you do?)...can you post the web link for the event please?

You shouldnt have to take your website down to add pages. You would just upload the new pages or whatever, which will replace the old ones, thus the current one remains in place at all times.
