I need a router and adapter to use my pc in a different room to my phone socket. I've seen a kit on ebay but the adapter is a card to go in pc. Can I install myself or would I need a professional, or would I be better trying to find an adapter which fits into the usb port?

If your computer has an ethernet port, you are better using that (to connect to a router) as it usually require no installation to use it.

I'm not sure what kind of adapter you are talking about - you mean to convert USB to ethernet because you have no ethernet port?

Yes this is what I mean. Thankyou, but perhaps I would be better off buying this from a shop then if its wrong I can return it.

yes, u need a router to conn with the phone socket and install a network adapter in ur PC(if there is no ethernet prot in ur PC), and conn the adapter with the router using ethernet cable. Finally u need to do some configuration of ur router(It depends on the network, some network carrier dont permit to use router for private client)

if your pc does not have a ethernet port to connect to the router you can buy one for around £7 Or wireless pci card £12 these are easily fitted on one of your pci slots on your motherboard you router will come with a setup cd netgear usuall have an auto run cd others will have a pdf file which will tell you how to connect your router
