Hi
I'm thinking of selling my wedding dress and just looking for some help please! I wondered what other peoples experience of doing this has been or if you have considered buying a preloved dress what you look for? I was thinking of putting it on Ebay but they take so much in commision- I have looked at sellmyweddingdress.com but not sure how popular this is with buyers. I'd hate for it to be sat there for months.
Are there any dress agencies in Sheffield that may sell it for me?
My dress cost over £1000 in 2009 and is still available but I don't really know how to price it to the 'preloved' market- I would like someone to feel like they got a bargain but don't want to let it go too cheaply. It's also been dry cleaned- do I reflect this in my price? What is the max ypu would pay for preloved????
I'm so sad to let it go but it's just sat in my spare room wardrobe and it seems such a shame
TIA

Hi!
I sold my wedding dress after advertising it on Ebay.
Like you my dress cost more than £1,000 and was bought last year. Not sure if it's still available now. It was so difficult to know what to do about the price because some people were offering the same dress brand new for just a few hundred quid on Ebay!
I paid to have mine dry cleaned and included that in my listing description. I put a reserve of £400 on my listing and didn't achieve that reserve. I actually sold it to a bidder who didn't win - she messaged me to ask my reserve and we agreed a sale afterwards.
To be honest, by the time I factored in the cost of dry cleaning, the fees charged by ebay for the £400 reserve and the postage I reckon I only actually made about £250-£300.
Then again - the bride who bought it was so delighted with it I felt glad I had sold it to have another outing again, rather than just sit in my wardrobe. I know her wedding date too, so I will think of her on that day and feel happy that I helped her have the dress of her dreams that she perhaps couldn't have afforded to buy new.
Also, it's difficult to know how popular a dress will be because it will depend if the people who want your style are the same size as you! ...It only takes a couple of people to want the dress in your size for bidding to go mad!
Hope this helps a bit!

I think if you can bear to part with your dress then £300 is reasonable - good luck! xxx

Hi, i do a bridal directory service where upon i will show the dress in my boutique we set a price and when it sells i take a percentage.
The average preloved dress depending on condition in sells in my store for appox £350-£450.
Let me know if this is of interest fo you. My parents live in Sheffield still so i can collect etc or call for a chat etc.
Alternatively try the following site http://www.preloved.co.uk
Its free and a great site especially for bridal clothes. You just need to sign up.
Good luck with it.
DL :)
When I found the dress I loved I googled it to see if any-one locally was selling it second hand. Personally if I was to sell mine I would do the same, google the designer/dress name/number and advertise it on the highest rated sites?
My dress cost just over 1k also and the second hand versions were going for 600-800 depending on location and if they had been dry cleaned.

This dress is not marketed by Alfred Sung but is sold to retailers to put their own labels on. I can't find...I do have some great pics of it if anyone (jenn) needs them. ...
