Don`t shoot me down with "its been mentioned before" please, I have done a search and the answer is on Vidster`s tech vault site, but it isnt loading.
I have installed WindowsXP and in my Firefox I had just one browser open and about 5/6 tabs going at the same time, saves openeing 5/6 different Firefox`s. I know you have to alter/add somethng in about:config but for the life of me I cannot remeber what it is.
I am searching through the Mozilla forum but its vast.
Anyone got the answer please on what I need to do ?
If I dont reply straight away its cause I am watching Big brother.

Do you need to configure it? Don't you just right click - Open in New Tab?
Or have I missed the point?

Or middle click if your mouse has a scroll wheel.

OMG!!! :o Me thinks it's time to find a new host. Sorry about that Peter41
There is a setting in about:config but i don't rate it that much. I much prefer using Tab Mix (https://addons.mozilla.org/extensions/moreinfo.php?id=625) to manage my tabbed browsing. With Tab Mix you can set your tabs to do absolutely anything, even put the kettle on

I shall try the tab thing, I saw that but wasnt sure if it did the same trick.
Works out of the box, no config altering needed.
Either;
Right click a link and select 'Open in New Tab'
Go to File, then New Tab
Press Ctrl-T
That's it.

Cheers Vidster .. the Tab Mix has done the trick
So if you want to open a link in a new tab? It'll open in the same one even though Fx has a setting that says otherwise.
If you want to view smilies on the forum? Opens in same tab again or in new window. Tab Mix will open them in new tab and you can also dictate where the new tab will open. I chose to open new tabs to the Right of the tab i am using. You can also dictate which tab will open once you close the tab you are viewing.
You can change the size of the tabs, place a close button in each tab, place the tab bar wherever you want etc etc.
I love it big time
