View Full Version : New Year Meet - 11th January CRB
Classic Rock 19-12-2003, 10:44 I am proud to announce that the next Forum meet will be on the 11th January which is a Sunday.
That leads us to the next poll.......we've never met on a Sunday before, the pub opens at 12 and shuts at 10.30pm so there's an afternoon slot and an evening slot.
I like polls, so pick the best time slot for you to come along and the majority will win!
Venue: Classic Rock Bar, Ecclesall Rd
Martin_s 19-12-2003, 12:49 Can I just note that I plan to make this an unofficial climb down, hair of a dog celebration of my 21st year... *cue: loud chorus of coughing* (ok, it'll be the 13th time I celebrate it :D)
I get younger ;) on the 10th and will be somewhat innebriated/ill/dying on the 11th so 3pm ish is good for me... :)
Classic Rock 19-12-2003, 14:42 Tomato juice and vodka for you then - excellent for hangovers!
Classic Rock 22-12-2003, 13:06 bump bump bump.

Not in the full view of everyone i hope.;)
Do you do Sunday lunches, Classic?
Yep think we could do, not the early one as Saturdays are usually late ones for us. Either of the others i believe is ok.
Fletch may be here, does anyone object if he comes along (aged 14 but very well behaved (most of the time))?
:nono:
I'll be there I think, I've booked 12th, 13th and 14th off anyways so it won't be a problem! Anyone else I know going?
Chloé
Mosherchik 22-12-2003, 18:51 Just found other thread on Jan meet and left response on that!
....so yeah, 11th is good hopefully see a few peeps about, mind end up coming down with a bit of revision :loopy: the drink might help it go in better! :P
MERRY CHRISTMAS
Have a gud un

Not as a rule but Sass may be able to knock something together if enough people request it, but he'd need to know in advance if enough people wanted it.
tinajones 26-12-2003, 23:06 Is this going ahead? When does the poll close? Its looking like a 3 o'clocker!
Nothing happens in January, so I might take a break from the planned decorating schedule and pop down...
Is anyone interested in doing Sunday lunch?
If so we need to get sorted and tell CR.
Mosherchik 04-01-2004, 15:35 Will still hopefully be going! Got an exam day after tho so probly wont be staying out too late :(
cya then

pretty_woman 04-01-2004, 16:56 hey guys ill be there for the 6pm slot and this is for definate come hell or high water!!!!!! i still got loads of kisses to deliver yes so hang onto your lips its gonna be a wild night and yes im even worse in real life stay cool!!!!!
you took the words right out of my mouth
it must have been while you were kissing me
Blootiger 04-01-2004, 18:44 Sounds like t'will be a right laugh!
DaBouncer 04-01-2004, 19:23 You know DJ E/Z-Man Grooving does a wicked Chilled out sunday set. He's on SheffieldLive.org every Sunday between 12-2.
If you asked him to do a set for the meet from 3pm to a chilled out mix, i think that would be a good idea.
If everyone chips in a few quid too, we could probably convince him even more.
I know it aint rock, but it sure is good music!
Just my 2 penneth!
I'll see if I can make an appearance (my first ever within this group) with t'other half, although she does get nervous with loads of new people. We shall see. :)
Classic Rock 05-01-2004, 09:47 Looks like it's 3pm then! I'll be on the bar to greet y'all.
I need to know if anyone wants to order Sunday lunch. We don't usually do this (although Sass is thinking of starting to serve it) but if we have enough notice we should be able to cater for, say, a fiver a head. Thoughts?
Agent Dan 05-01-2004, 10:20 I'll be there! Not fussed about Sunday lunch though cos I'll already have eaten by then!
Oh, and HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!
Mosherchik 05-01-2004, 10:26 Might have to hang around a bit later so I can meet the legendary Pretty_Woman at last!
Looking foward to it hunny

Guys and Gals,
I am fairly new to this Forum but would like to come along and meet you all on Sunday, only i don't know the score. Do you all wear badges??? or should i wear a Flower with a Paper under my arm or sumert?
I just don't want to be going up to groups of people asking if they are part of a Forum, sounding strange and getting leathered!!
Any suggestions??:confused
Classic Rock 05-01-2004, 15:56 Don't worry, the pub's really quiet at that time of day on a Sunday. Highly likely that we'll all be a part of the Forum.
I'm looking forward to it!
I'll let you know what time nearer the time (work & everything)
See you there

I'll bring my shades then - all that pink and red in one place...
Beachboy 05-01-2004, 17:58 I might just be able to make it. I'll have to see. It would be nice to put faces to names.
Might see you in the afternoon just for a couple.
Fletch wants to go to the CRB meet this Sunday but the powers that be need convincing - vote whether he should go or not and sign the petition !!!
OK so noone one for lunch.
What time are we doing this then?
And are people ok about Fletch?
Let me know. Thanks.
Agent Dan 06-01-2004, 08:04 Fuzzy - don't know if you want our approval or CR's but Fletch is fine by me!! Hell, I was in bars by that age anyway (and it never did me any harm... erm...!)
Darn, can't make it. Will be in Manchester for United V Newcastle match. Altogether now: "Cheer up Alan Shearer. Oh what can it mean to a sad Geordie..." CUT. :D
Classic Rock 06-01-2004, 12:13 Fletch is fine by me.

Nomme
Classic Rock 06-01-2004, 13:07 That's OK, I have a dungeon ;)
cosywolf 06-01-2004, 22:01 Ah, let him come out. It's character building!:D
Cosy:P
No he can't, Classic Rock and his mum said No.
He has to get up early for a paper round and school too. And he will not have done his homework either, he never does.
Not much support here for him either. Bummer. Fletch not coming, :D :P :P :P
Sign the petition for Fletch to come. Classic says he can, but i'm not sure? ;)
He is OK and far too used to going to the pub. And if he plays up Classic can put him in the Dungeon she has. :D
And after this time you will all know to say NO when i ask next time.:loopy:
Thanks. See you Sunday.
on a saturday i dont have to wake up as early!!
i dont get the last post??
does that mean i can go??
Hello, I am new :)
Could anyone tell me how often these meets tend to happen? I'm supposed to be cooking a Moussaka on Sunday (which is a mammoth undertaking for a kitchen-moron like myself) so if it all explodes and I can't come, how long until you might be doing something like this again?
Classic Rock 08-01-2004, 14:56 It's usually every other month or so

Ru suggesting I have some curious obssession with pink! I think you'll find I dont!......
....Ahem as I was saying....Im not obssessed with colour pink in fact I shall not wear anything of the pinkness on Sun, altho I may have to redo pink streaks in hair...
hmm, never been to meet before, so could be interesting. even more so as it's my birthday on sunday and really don't want to be stuck in revising al day. may well join in.
darkstardust 08-01-2004, 19:05 Just a shame I haven't enough cash to make it - then again i suppose someone like the back end of a bus that has been intimate with several walls would put even the hardiest of drinkers off their enjoyment. :)
Take care all and I hope to meet you in the next meet.
After much deliberation and re-organisation of my diary, I find that I am going to have to cry off
I hope you all have a great time and if you can be arsed, that someone raises a glass to the drink I would have shared with you
Enjoy
x
tinajones 11-01-2004, 01:32 Lets have a roll call... whos coming?!
Martin_s 11-01-2004, 03:03 Well I'll be there of course.. and a lot more sober and less hungover than I was originally expecting to be as well :)

Well thats a suprise martin...... if you were still up at 4.30am!!
(That's the same time as I crawled into bed, and I didn't wake up till 11 - oooops).
See you later (probably - i may fall to sleep after my big fat fry up of a sunday brunch - yum yum).
Phanerothyme 11-01-2004, 11:24 can I bring my boy to the meet? He is only 2 and a 1/4?
Sorry guys n gals I won't be going. I've got to get on with this work while I'm in the mood to do it.......plus I've not been on this forum very long and although I've done internet meetups before, I'm not really comfortable with the idea just yet.
Maybe see you at the next one.
Cheers
P
Blootiger 11-01-2004, 11:35 Hullo everyone!

X Bloo
Had a fanatastic time tonight guys! Great to see everyone....new and old members;)
Congratulations to BT and Mosh for winning the quiz and thanks for the drinks you shared with us all.
BrainThrust 11-01-2004, 22:53 For some reason me and Mosh seemed to get really competitive about that quiz, don't know why!
Of course we shared the drinks! did you see how many there were, with me on detox, i doubt we would've drunk them.
I had a really great time again and i am glad i was able to make it (Thanks again Mr. H!)
It was great to meet you all, new faces and old and i hope the next meet is as good.
I better go and buy some crisps now to scare martin with!

Blootiger 12-01-2004, 07:02 Yeah, I'll second Beachboy!!! It was great meeting such a cool bunch of people, hope the next meet's happening soon!!! Have fun & take care XXX Bloo
Martin_s 12-01-2004, 10:28 Yep... likewise... Hope everyone had a better nights sleep than me... Made the mistake of eating before hitting the hay and had some bizarre nightmares as a result..
Doh!... Was a good night though and great to meet everyone
Classic Rock 12-01-2004, 11:29 Glad you all had fun. It was good to get from behind the bar and mix and mingle a bit. The quiz was spontaneous, we do things like that.
I hope the twin gingers provided some amusement as well as the dog wrestling and the air firing gadget.
I think Sunday proved to be a really good day for the meet, so many people came down! New faces as well as old ones.
I'm disappointed nobody took any photos. I want to see some of the next one!

xxx
Isn't it funny but the only people that are desperate to see the photos are the people that won't come. Don't think there should be photos taken for those that don't come.
Yep good times had again though i did stay much longer than i planned again, Gillies fault.
Hi to all old and new. And thanks again for hosting at Classic Rock, please tell Andy(ginger) i lost his number, or maybe Nomme took it.
Hey everyone!
Sunday was cool, it was nice to meet ppl (sorry if I didn't get to talk to everyone), the gingers were in full flow to add to the entertainment, can't wait for the next one, cheers to mosh and BT for the drink they won:thumbsup:
