Saw part 1 and have taped part 2. This programme made such an impression on me; one reads about these slums but to see the conditions is something else. 21 people living in one 2 room asbestos roofed 'shack', no sanitary facilities, food prepared on the floor which doubles as the sleeping area for all these people and rats running about the place all night. Such lovely people though and seeming quite 'happy' with their lot. I'll never complain about my house again!

I remember thinking just that when I first saw them on my first visit to India, I still complain though !

Amused me when he was trying to sleep, and there was a rat in the carrier bag. He didnt look happy.
But I cant believe how much money the business man was making- and still chose to live there

It was an excellent programme. Very thought provoking. In the second episode it was awful to see the apartments they had built to move people into, which indeed look as though the community was lost.

I can see why the authorites are wanting to get rid of the slums, the conditions and filth are shocking.

The enterprising businesses were amazing, although the conditions are shocking. It was awful to see the woman collecting rubbish to fund her children through school.

Another world and this programme really opened my eyes.
