im off to see irvines first game, any other owls going from sheff forum? i know he said hes out to get results any way he can but i can see us giving a good go of it tomorrow, its probably the first time the dingles will be favourites for this tie in a few years. that said, their run has to end soon and ours has to start.

going on train earlyish tomorrow so does anyone know any good pubs for away fans in barnsley?

Been on a full away with the Blades at Barnsley on 2 or 3 occasions, whats the big deal? I didn't go this season as i was away, however it was on a Monday night and on Sky so i can't see too many been bothered.

As for you lot it think the fact you have a new manager has probably stoked a bit of interest.

i wish i was going, just blackpool for me unfortunately:( hopefully irvine will get them fired up for it and we can get that much needed win, not counting on it though. will be interesting to see how many changes he makes, wonder if lugoils will get a start.
didn't take long for the attendance to crop up:rolleyes: utd had reasons as did wednesday for the derby etc, do we really have to start with all that again???? and before any blades say i know it was an owl that started it

Fact, ask any of your wednesday pals.
You did not sell your allocation for the derby at Dtbl.

As for a pub suitable for away fans.
Why are you asking me?

As for trolling.

Tell me a pub in Meadowhall when wednesday are at home and I'll tell you a safe pub for teenagers in Barnsley.

no, i was questioning how it got to general sale when it never usually does. we sold the allocation but obviously lot of season ticket holders would of rather watched it on sky and not risk getting into trouble. a difference in going to general sale and not selling the allocation don't you think? if you have found out from the club we didn't sell them all then fair enough but i'm sure you have better things to do than that eh

it is cheaper for wednesday fans to watch the derby at the lane than it is for blades to watch it at hillsbrough. makes it more remarkable that wednesday struggle to sell 2,800 for the lane but united will sell 7,000 plus for hillsbrough with no problem.

the victoria behind the home end up the road on the left is a good old fashioned pub. I usually go in there when i go to barnsley. beer is good decent size pool table. bit of a mixture of fan so if you've no one to hold your hand proberbly not for you. best stay in sheffield till last minute jump on coach and straight in. ask a bobby to show you where your end is.

1 / Haven’t you missed a B out, surely its BDTBL.

2/ When travelling this is the best site to check out the “away pubs”

http://www.footballgroundguide.com/

Barnsley

Where To Drink?

Paul Sammon, a lifelong Tyke, recommends the Outpost on Sheffield Road. The pub is a ten minute walk from the ground. Gary Holding a visiting Blackburn supporter adds;

'A few minutes walk from the away end is the Metro Dome - an all in one leisure centre, which has a bar inside which serves good food and ale'.

Drinking in the town centre is generally not recommended, especially near the Bus & Train Stations, although on my last visit I had a hassle free pint (or two) in the Joseph Bramah (Lloyds No.1) Wetherpoons in the centre of town, but I should point out that I wasn't wearing colours.

Alcohol is available in the away end, when the whole of the stand is allocated to away supporters. Unfortunately if the stand is split between home and away fans, then the only bar on the concourse sits on the home side.

cheers malky, thats all i was asking, i believe theres no alcohol on the away end today, obviously due to the fact its barnsleys biggest game of the season. and the less drunken idiots the better. a few people have said the metrodome so i think we might check that out, ill have a look at that site now though cheers.

cheers malky, thats all i was asking, i believe theres no alcohol on the away end today, obviously due to the fact its barnsleys biggest game of the season. and the less drunken idiots the better. a few people have said the metrodome so i think we might check that out, ill have a look at that site now though cheers.

If you are going on the train I doubt you will get chance for a drink, the police march the fans up to the ground in small groups.

That’s what I did, sit tight on the train until the rush as gone and then sneak out with the old biddies and shoppers.

we still looked very dodgy at times though, we seem to invite pressure onto ourselves a little too much, a little composure wouldnt go a miss, a few times we gave the ball away by simply hoofing it up field as a 'supposed' clearance when we had enough time to take a touch and look for a pass instead of giving posession away, we panicked at times. i thought we were dominated in a period not long before half time and just after half time. other than that i thought we looked alot more comfortable on the ball than usual.

I think hopefully with a few more wins, it will boost confidence and that mine change. Its a shame we can't get a new centre half in though to give us a bit more stability.

It just goes to show how short we are when we cant even get a centre half in on loan for a month or so.
Time is ticking and if Beevers and Spurr get injured were in the crap.

Johnson was sound at the time, just a centre half as cover, not sure how long Hinds is injured for.
If the worse comes to the worse old Frankie will have to slot in, hes done it before and done well.

We;d have to move Buxton to c/half and Frank in the side.

I suppose were lucky that Hinds, Buxton and Frankie can play anywhere across the back four.

yes, they opened the sports hall in the metrodome and wednesdayites were ushered into there, they had a bar and foodstall thingy and 5-a-side footy going on with SSN on. good laugh and alot of chanting towards the match kicking off.
