Would like a LAMP dedicated server with plesk or similar, with root access, good connectivity, in europe is possible, and at a good price (£50 a month or less). Generous transfer allowances (or unmetered transfer even) would be a serious bonus (phanfm may yet rise from the ashes). Celeron OK but P4 would be better.

So any suggestions? I'm looking at 1&1 at the moment, but all there tech spt at night is VOIP to some american nerds dorm.

Anyone had any experience of -

Dedicated Servers

I haven't used them myself but I've been recommended http://poundhost.co.uk. The best place to get advice is the webhostingtalk site, but it's a forum so I'm not sure if I can link to it without asking first.

Do you definitely need a dedicated server? The reason I ask is, I currently use http://site5.com for hosting, I'm starting on a shared package where I get 3gb of space and 50gb of bandwidth for £7 a month, I can then upgrade with them all the way up to a dedicated server as and when I need it. They let you have ssh access so you can install new programs and other geeky stuff.

Hope this helps some,

Grant
