View Full Version : Has my parcel gone missing?
shortcrust 15-01-2010, 14:10 First off, this isn't a dig at Royal Mail!! Things happen....
A package was posted to me on 5th Jan and still hasn't arrived. It was sent normal signed for parcel post. I'm thinking it must have been lost, but am hoping it just delayed. I'd be interested to hear opinions from posties or others who have received delayed parcels recently.
I'll get a refund from the company so it's not the end of the world!
Ghostrider 15-01-2010, 14:11 I have had the same problem - the shop say they have proof of delivery, but for some strange reason cant or wont supply it to me....
small_hall 15-01-2010, 14:13 i wouldn't worry too much - i have noticed that on some days we get no mail & then a few days later we get an absolute load. I am sure our postie is saving it all & just posting it all in a couple of batches a week.
Chances are its delayed ...maybe coz of the ice !

If it's signed for then ask for POD just to make sure it's not been sent elsewhere...
It's a bit too early to worry, but only just. I've found my packages can take anything from one to ten working days to reach their destination.
Royal Mail only class something as 'lost' after 15 working days have elapsed.
The post service is in a bit of disaray at the moment with strikes and Christmas and all the evil snow!
shortcrust 15-01-2010, 14:33 Thanks for the advice and reassurance. I'll cross my fingers!
Ghostrider - Hope you get it sorted out. Sounds dodgy!
Yeah, Ghostrider, that IS a bit weird!
auto98uk 15-01-2010, 14:56 I have had the same problem - the shop say they have proof of delivery, but for some strange reason cant or wont supply it to me....
Is it already paid for?

How weird is that? we have spent the afternoon trying to track down some "lost" parcels
one was posted on the 3rd and the other the 6th, both companies say our parcels should be with us, royal mail have no record of one of them(2 footy shirts £60) and the oter company have yet to get back in touch with me
hopefully just delaed due to weather but its a right pain in the bum and the items have to be somewhere don`t they?
I would imagine a lot of delays would be due to the weather we've had recently, I bet there is a huge backlog of parcels and letters and probably not enough time in the day to get them all out in one go, Give it a few more days and chase it up again.

I feel a bit more hopeful after reading this lyndix! I started the thread in the hope of hearing from people in the same boat, so thanks for posting. I'll cross my fingers for you!
anywebsite 15-01-2010, 15:19 If they're signed for you should be able to get a tracking number that you can enter on the royal mail website.
Ghostrider 15-01-2010, 15:21 Is it already paid for?
Yes, through paypal, so im now trying to get a refund...

We've had a nightmare with the post.
No post Wednesday-Tuesday this week (7 days) due to the snow.
Wednesday, this week, I kid you not, we had 3 postmen come in the space of 3 hours all dropping off standard post. Why it was done in 3 deliveries I haven't a clue, but some of it's still taking it's time to turn up.
Where was the item ordered from?

mine was ordered from derbycounty site and amazon
shortcrust 15-01-2010, 16:42 mine was ordered from derbycounty site and amazon
And mine from www.wiggle.co.uk in Portsmouth (it's a sporting goods website and therefore not as embarrassing as it sounds!)
I talked to my postie this morning and apparently the parcels which were meant to be going out on vans are standing in huge boxes at the sorting office, waiting for the roads to be clear enough to allow the drivers to do their proper routes.
That would account for where the 11 parcels I'm waiting for are then.
It's amazing that the companies which send their parcels by courier rather than Royal Mail all managed to get them to me on time though.
If it's been sent signed for why don't you get the tracking number and go on the website to find out exactly where it is.

Thanks medusa, that explains a lot and gives me hope!:) You're right about the courier companies. I've had a package from the US which was sent out on the 8th!! Still, every van which has come to mine has had a right job getting out again.
Shaz112 - Mine can't be tracked, but is signed for. I'm almost glad because if I could I'd be checking it every 10 mins in the hope of movement!:hihi:

I hope thats the case!
as someone else said, they don`t class it as missing until 15 days after the due delivery date.

I`m not sure if its a good thing tho, one of the items was disney sing it with microphones for the ps3, the kids are going mental!! not gonna be a quiet day here!!
And of course I havn`t been on it thinking I`m hannah montana, noooooooooo I`m way too grown up for that!:D
I`m sure yours won`t be far behind mate, the postie said there was loads to deliver:)
There is a HUGE backlog of packets at the moment, at the office I work at. Thing is, the managers won't hire anyone else to clear the backlog. So it is just sitting there doing nothing. I think he's hoping it will all magically disappear.
tell me about it, ordered an xmas pressie for my daughter an it still not arrived, takes the ****.
jeanjeaney 16-01-2010, 19:05 Post is rubbish at the moment, all my birthday cards came a day late, they were posted days before first class
shortcrust 17-01-2010, 13:29 No it hasn't! My parcel was delivered today!!:hihi::hihi: Must be quite a backlog to be delivering on a Sunday.

yayyyy!
:)
That's good news. To everyone: I know how frustrating it is when your parcels don't arrive, but be patient, and above all else, be kind to the seller. It's usually not their fault (unless they're surly and rude).
Glad they've all come :)
I have two parcels from City Link waiting for me in Rotherham grrr! What's wrong with using Parcelforce, at least they drop it off at your local post office and not in another city. Gonna phone them in the morning to try to arrange a redelivery.
