Hi people,
A few years ago I bought a Tens machine for my back, But after watching Jackass my brother use it and broke it and binned it (which annoyed me as they had a lifetime warranty).

Now I believe I need one again but I cant remember what make it was. Can anyone recommend me one? All I can remember was it was black, came in a case and could use 2 pads.

Can anyone recommend me one?

Dunno if I'm being thick here but I'm curious...

What's a Tens machine?

The info says it's a breakthrough in pain relief
stands for
Transcutaneous Electical Nerve Stimulation.
working on the idea that it will stop the nerve carrying the pain signal to the brain so reduce or even stops pain

Ah I see, so it's summat for if you have a bad back to try and control the pain.

With ya now

You stick stickers on the appropriate place and the machine sends a small electrical current through and zaps the nerve carrying the signal. It works on some people's pain but not orthers.

I tried one Hazel, and found that it inflamed the trouble instead of helping it :(

Mainframe has used one before so it shouldn't apply to him, but for anyone else thinking of buying a tens machine I would advise that you hire one prior to buying, just to see if they suit you.

Would a tens machine help with migraine?

Has anyone tried it for this?

I am not sure Splodge, but you could try ringing Boots and see if they can advise you about their use for migraines.

Many thanks Owdlad, I don't often get into town thru the day!

If there's a possibility of working with a migraine in progress I want to know about it! :D

Life's too short for lying in bed!

There's one lying about my parents house somewhere as my dad was using one for his back but after a few months it stopped being effective - he got to the point where he couldn't turn it up anymore. I used to find it highly amusing when attached to unsuspecting friends, visitors etc. :D

I've used a TENS machine for years for my Fibromyaglia, they're great (IMO)

You can pick them up quite cheaply on ebay now, this is the model I have and it's lasted years (about 6 years, changed the battery twice).

I find it most helpful on long car journeys, as my hips can get very sore.

If you want to try it out before buying, you could always get one of those 'butterfly' muscle tensing thingies that work on the same principle, they sell them in netto and ebay usually two for a fiver or summat, they aren't as strong as a proper tens machine but give you a vague idea.

Migraines = You shouldn't really stick the pads on your head (or eyes, genitals etc) , I suffer from migraines too but I find migralieve and a dark room work for me most of the time.
