View Full Version : Belle's Party - please come
I would like to throw a party
on Saturday 3rd January
I would like to invite all Sheffield Forumers
To my home
From 2pm in the afternoon, until you either get tired and go home or until you just crash out somewhere and have to have a blanket thrown over you.
So what is the catch?
Well there are two catches, the first of which is that it will take you up to an hour to get to me
and the second is that you will probably want to organise yourselves into some kind of mini-bus or non drinking driver(s) if you must go home that night...
However, let me say this
I live in a lovely village with nice Christmas lights and loads of pubs (including a conservative club and a liberal club, not that I have ever crossed the threshold of either you will understand)
I am feeling loving and generous and intend to have an open house including chilli (vegetarian or meaty), potatoes, salad, bread, cheese, olives, sausages, all sorts, chocolates, .......
and then there is the music......blues, soul, country, rock, hard, soft, girly....and whatever you bring to play that is any better.
And I can find you a cushion or a mate with a cushion
I know it is a bit away, but wouldnt you like to tell your pals that you had travelled to the peak district national park for a bit of a do? (as we call it)
Honestly, I want to have a real Forum party, even from over here.
and lots of laughs, Nomme and Fuzzy please come along
I realise this is a bit radical, but I am good at radical.
Here follows a list of people who ought to at least to give it a second thought....
Max
Nomme
Fuzzy
Fletch
E-man Groovin
Dadda
Momma
Phan
DaB
Buffy
Lou
Danni
Michael Travis
Cosy

and frankly all of the rest of you who I tried to remember but for whom a bottle of wine had the better of me.
Never start a list unless you want lots of people perturbed because you forgot them
Do you want to come and party big style over here?
Let me know
Belle

PS....really wouldnt it be fun?

Belle, I'm IN! (Have friends where I can stay (in their chicken shed as they all go to bed real early))
But have you considered the wisdom behind drinking a bottle of wine and then deciding to have a party at yours and invite loads of people you hardly know?
I thought so :)
Phan, Hugs
I dont do wisdom at this time of night, as you so readily appreciate
But I still think it will be a good idea to host a party out of the geography of downtown Sheffield (even when I become aware of my wild offers, LOL)
Consider the three of you booked in
It will be a great time, fun, laughter, music and a tad bit of Yorkshire scorn
I hope I get a good crowd and you Sheffield folk are capable of organising yourselves into a good PARTY

kittykat 18-12-2003, 23:43 fine since im not on that list i wont even give it a second thought - or even a first
Martin_s 18-12-2003, 23:51 Well I'd love to come but I'm already committed as I'm off to Manchester to attend a Rag conference for student fundraisers (it's related to an ongoing project I have online)...
Thanks for the invite though (even if I wasn't specifically mentioned) :P
cosywolf 19-12-2003, 00:02 Belle, you're a lovely, generous, huggable person (and I'm not just saying that cos I got a mention in your list, either;). Although the wine may be contributing:D)
What a great idea. What a brave lass, lol.
Unfortunately Mark and I are planning to be away that week, but if it all falls through, I would be really pleased to join the party.
And if I don't post again beforehand,
HAVE A VERY HAPPY CHRISTMAS and a WILD AND WONDERFUL NEW YEAR!
Cosy:P

You are both invited even if you didn't make through Belle's wine addled memory onto the list. Of course, if you can't party then you should stay away...
I shall bring CDs, champagne, brandy and angostura for cocktails, a chaffeur, and my extra big pack of skins. Can't wait, but so far it's just you and me Belle!

Count me in! Should be able to pop down on that weekend... Will have to double check my calendar once I've done the christmas at home thing but sounds excellent! I think I can contribute plenty of music, more skins, whisky (always) and a few interesting cocktail recipes...
hiyabeing 19-12-2003, 08:28 WOuld love to if can sort lift / suss out how to get there on public transport.
Am in skeggy for new year - but will come back friday or saturday morning.
Will try to sort something out.
DaBouncer 19-12-2003, 09:10 9th!!!
I was 9th in your people who should give it a second thought!
Crikey Belle, whats happening!
What happened to 1st!
DOH
I'll have to check with the boss first, but it sounds good to me providing we can sort somewhere out to crash.
Nomme
Good, it is all shaping up.
Of course if one of you didnt drink, you could drive the others home, but that isnt so much fun.

I gave you lots of kudos in the Forum awards yesterday
You cant have it all everytime!
;)
Rpg
Im more elusive than Geoff is ;) plus its too far to travel TBH, have a nice time anyway
And there is me, naively thinking that Sheffield is full of party animals who would love to come over to West Yorkshire for a Forum one off bash - to show the social diary secretary how it is really done
But, no
Some good people are signed up but lots have still to throw their hats into the ring
Let me put it this way
Sheffield WILL be bringing in the New Year on that Saturday in West Yorkshire and I WILL be challenging my friends to be there, but if you are too scared to cross the border *wink* then you have only yourselves to blame if you miss out on a really quality do.
I want you to come and debate some of the finer points like what is really the best sandwich or should Darkness be number one or is Lord of the Rings tops or should we drink red wine and worry about a hangover cure later and other such important things
Do please let me know
There WILL be a party and others will be talking about it for months to come, but will YOU be there or will you be hearing about it second hand?
Belle
xxxxxxx
hey Belle- thx for the invite!
Will try to make it but not sure of my schedule at the moment. If I am free- count me in!
Will pm u nearer the time.
Sorry Belle, can't make this time, but thanks a lot.
I miss out on all the good stuff :(
I'm sending you a big hug though as you sent me one last time there was a party.
Merry Christmas everyone.
R & I will try and come over during the day. Will give you a bell, bell gettit?, to see how it's going.
DaBouncer 22-12-2003, 07:49 Will be down south until that saturday, so after driving over 300 miles i'm thinking I wont be able to make it (but anything is possible right).
Thanx for the invite tho.
Will update you closer to the day!
DB
I'll meant to be at the South Yorkshire chapter of the Hells Angels "S&M New Years Bash" that day. I'll have a word with Mad Dog Eric (club secretary) to see if we can switch venue. Where was it you said you lived?

I'm tenth! Might struggle if I am committed to a bar shift (more than likely as it's Friday).
If this is going ahead, are we still doing the meet at the pub on the Sunday (11th)?
Classic Rock - I dont see my inviting folks over for a "do" at home, as in any way cutting across proper Forum events. So I very much hope that the January do goes ahead as you intend

Moon Maiden 23-12-2003, 09:41 I spoke to the hubby about it and I think he is persuadable - our problems are babysitters and transport - to wherever it is you live.

Okay folks
The party is still going ahead, although it is looking quite select at the moment, it seems only the mega posters are considering it.
But let me reiterate, I am inviting all Forumers, to my home (and you dont get much more personal than that let me tell you!)
We are going to eat, drink, talk, maybe walk and just enjoy each other's company.
I would appreciate a PM for an arrival time, so I know when I need to have tidied up by, and how many potatoes to buy and so on.
PMs too please for address and directions.
It will be a quality thread of a day, I might even have to hand out lots of notepads so that the shy amongst us can write their responses down and then pass them around
Please let me know soon if you can come over, even if only for a few hours and alcohol free. I would love to see you, The walking country is fab and I promise I am a good hostess
Book club members PARTICULARLY welcome and that means you too TinaJones

Ooh maybe it will be just like C4's 'The Book Group' - will 'Barney' be attending? Not that I want to jack up but I really dig his eyeliner technique!
Honey if it takes Barney to be here for you to come over, I will ask him for you
(makes note to self, who the hell is Barney??)

Here's a piccy:James Lance (http://www.searchforjohngissing.com/cast/james.html)
He's currently in Absolute Power with John Bird and Stephen Fry and was in Teachers.
Very generous of you Belle, I am sure.
Transport will be a problem for me on this one.
Does sound fab though, really fab!
A shame it looks like I will have to miss it...
Boo Hoo:cry:
I just dont get it
Why am I too far away?
I come to Sheffield three times a week, every week, for week, why would it suddenly be too far for everyone else to travel?
I am offering food, drink, great Forum conversation and a hostess that wants you all to have a great time
How is 28 miles too much?
If you are up for a teeny weeny bit of travel and a great landing point, then do please let me know
B
x
Where 28 miles away ?
Any main routes ?
Lost village ?
Public transport ?
Lifts ?
Not good weather for a 43 year old Vespa, I assure you petal.
Venger
If you want to come and celebrate, let me know
I can find lifts for you
Beds for you
Drink for you
Lovely walks in the national park for you
Nice ladies for you perhaps
LOL
come on dont be a coward
xxxxxxx
If anyone can offer a lift to West Yorkshire, please PM Venger so that he can come over
Nomme and Fuzzy are definitely coming but from further north, so wont be able to do liftshere, but might be able to take you home again.
Phan? Can you bring anyone over with you?
Agent Dan?
Max?
Hiyabeing is planning on coming over, possibly on the train, in which case I will collect her...
Moon and Mr Moon? How will you get here?
Let's all do a bit of sharing, isnt that what Christmas is all about?
x
E-Man Groovin 30-12-2003, 23:41 Hey Belle,
Now that sounds like a fantastic idea. I'm sure it'll be wicked and that those of us unable or unwilling to make it will forever regret the folly of their decision when they hear what a gr8 party it was.
Also **5th on your list**! I don't know on what particular occasion I managed to write something clever on the forum to earn such an exalted position, but it must have been an accident!
However, that makes me feel especially bad that I'll be unable to make it. I'm orf to Whitby tommorrow for an old Brighton chum's party in a big house in t'middle of nowhere. Then I have to entertain some London reprobate friends of mine who are coming up to Sheff on Friday (and believe me, you wouldn't wanna have them anywhere *near* your house!)
But I hope it rocks. Post pictures and gossip on the forum so that we can find ou what we missed.
hugs
Petey
Phanerothyme 01-01-2004, 21:46 Heh, after much wheedling and persuading I am coming, but alone, as neither Son nor Girlfriend can be persuaded of the sagacity of more parties so close to such a booze ridden period.
I have 3, possibly 4 spare seats going to Belle's in my car, so if you want a lift to arrive at hers Early Evening Saturday, then PM me or email me phanerothyme@skunkulike.co.uk
See you there
P
Beachboy 01-01-2004, 22:05 What a lovely invite... sorry Belle but am unable to attend your party on Saturday. Unfortunately I already have plans for Sat evening. It's a mates bithday and I can't pull out.
Thanx again... I hope you all have a fab time!!!
Well it is all looking good
My job tomorrow then is to tidy up and get the provisions in
If you are fussy about your music, you had better bring some, you might not like mine
I wont put my phone number on here, but if you want to come and havent already got directions etc, PM me
Belle

Moon Maiden 02-01-2004, 14:22 We won't be coming. Despite speaking to old git on a numerous occasions about said party - he has informed me that he will be working tomorrow nite
Would have been nice if he had opened his trap being that he has been reading the forums too *slap*
Very sorry Belle, would loved to have come over!
Moon Maiden
Phanerothyme 03-01-2004, 14:32 Last call for free transport to belles party. I am leaving sheffield at around 5-5:30pm and I have 2 spaces in the car, returning tomorrow am.

We'll be leaving Sheffield around the same time and will be coming back later this evening (I won't be drinking). 2 spaces available coming back.

Nice to meet Max & Mrs Max, Phan, Venger, Jamie, Ying, Nomme, Fuzzy Purple and, of course, you Belle! (hope I've not missed anyone out, or I'll get posts complaining about incomplete lists!)
Thank you for your hospitality - a great evening!
Belle- last night was so much fun!!! A huge thank you for opening up your home to us forumers and being a fab hostess. I had a wicked time; the food was delicious, drinks refreshing and entertainment was top notch:thumbsup:
Venger, I am surprised you were still standing at 3am with all that alcohol you consumed! Jamie, thanks for the knock on the head and the theft of all the pillows!!!!
Phan/Mr H, many thanks for the lift.
Can't wait to I get married in the next 3 months...
Gonna try to catch up with my sleep today.......
Hope that you had a lovely time Belle - Couldn't come 'cos we had a meal booked.
Last night was a blast !! ... thankies Belle ... I had such a fun time (thanks to all the wonderful company and phan's champagne coctails).
Appologies to Ying ... really sorry ... for you know what !! ... as for the cushions ... I only was returning them to their rightful owner !!.
Special thanks go to mr H and Phan for kindly acting as a taxi service.
Thanks to you Belle ... and everyone else ... for making it such an enjoyable evening.
Thank you for the thank yous *G*
Thank you all for coming
Thank you for the chocolates
Thank you for the music LOL
Thank you all for bringing so much alcohol that I have more bottles now than I started with, red wine anyone?
I have gained a small blue/grey hat if anyone wants to claim it.
I am hungover and rough but I am sure the big Sunday dinner I have just eaten at a local hostelry with Nomme and Fuzzy will make me feel better soon
You were all great, individually and as a group
Now can I go back to bed please?
xx
Belle !! ... have you found my hat !?
It is a soft wool kinda fabric ? Mostly bluey coloured and a bit grey in a kinda cloudy pattern ?
If so ... it's my fave hat !!
:)
Your hat is safe and well darling
What does it like to eat and do I have to take it for walks and that?
I will find a way of getting it to you, I could post it if you PM me your address
x
Great time even though I was limited to one drink. Bah.
Photos of MrH & Ying, Nomme & Belle, Phan, Fuzzy & Jamie and a rather dodgy one of Venger due to too much light.
I'll stick them on the web somewhere and pm their location to the attendees.
Belle, Thank you very much for an excellent evening. Good times had by all. Think that is now the end of Xmas now and what a way to finish it. Back to school tomorrow. Bummer.
Good lunch today too, we may have to come out again at sometime and have lunch after a walk, will give you a ring when we do.
Please thank Vic for putting us up.

DaBouncer 04-01-2004, 17:45 I dont mind Ying... you can show the world!;)
 Top night Belle petal!
Was very generous of you Thankyou.
I guess that means everybody that did not manage to make it will have to learn how to play `nakedgodslot` some other time.
Brief message but extended Big Fun to all who met, shared, drove, played, posted pics etc...
See you all again kids.
venger.
ps. that is (venjer).(venja)...
Phanerothyme 04-01-2004, 20:29 Belle, MrH, Ying, Venger, Fuzzy_purple, Nomme, Victoria, Mr & Max, Jamie.....what can I say?
That was the party of the century, if not the millenium. I really cannot foresee any circumstances where anyone could hold a better party than the depraved and decadent orgy of excess that we have been party to.
At least the visible bruising has gone down and the bite marks are not really looking too bad. I told my gf that Louise has a rather nasty Jack Russel who inflicted the bites - I think she bought it.
My doctor says I should get the vision back in my left eye soon, providing I stay off the Alcohol/PCP cocktails so generously provided by MrH
Anyways, it was the finest house party I have ever had the privelege of attending, although not many other parties I have been to had quite so many nubile butlers and waitresses in attendance - a defining feature, especially considering the "mint sorbet incident" - that image of Howard, Ying and Belle will stay with me for a long time.
After literally pints of wine, champagne, champagne cocktails (they do the job don't they?) great debates raged, great friendships were forged (my new blood brothers, I salute you) great sex was had by all (although I have photographs of my bite marks, and I intend to match them to dental records, so I'd be grateful if you'd send me your xrays for comparisons).
It was so dark I couldn't see who was doing the biting, but whoever you are, that thing you did with the wet celery was inspiring (!)
Belle, all I can say is that Caligula would have been proud, although next time you might want to cut down on the amount of Viagra you put in the tiramisu.
I haven't got any photos I can post, not without contravening Geoffs regs, so I'll send the links out to those of you who came, and those of you who attended but didn't come. :)
I hope you were joking in that post, phan.
DaBouncer 04-01-2004, 20:40 Phan.... quality! Nice one!
It's been described as many things but wet celery's a new one on me.
I can only echo Phan's sentiments, though clearly never as eruditely as the silver tongued devil himself.
Champagne cocktails...laughter...baked potatoes...tarot readings...laughter...pints of wine...apple strudel...philosophical debate...laughter...book discussions...milk tray...a guided tour through Belle's ash tray collection (a lovely specimen from the Guinness museum I should note)...cheese...laughter...red wine...chocolate éclairs...naked twister...laughter...coleslaw...more champagne cocktails...digital camera geek fest...celery (I don't remember the celery!)...laughter...beer...hot sex...salad...perception and psychedelics...laughter...chocolates...animal cruelty and meat production...another champagne cocktail - don't mind if I do(hic)...sweet corn...mind altering/life changing books...laughter....bizarre antics with cushions...mint sorbet incident (I'll never forget that lol)...garlic bread...laughter...lots of other stuff I can't remember at the moment...jumpers for goalposts...enduring images. Isn't it? Belle's party? Marvellous!
Great to meet you all.
Nomme
(p.s. A really big thank you to Belle's mate Vic - wow what a lady!)
Moon Maiden 05-01-2004, 10:53 Naked twister :o
Perhaps a good job we didn't come........erm...is that wrong choice of words there??
Moon
Sounds like I missed a good one!
Thanks for the invite, I only just saw it! Have been away from the Forum since the 18th Dec and today is first day back on it. Lots of catching up to do!
I wouldn't have been able to come as it was my birthday on Sat 3rd, and had friends staying with me, meal, club etc in sheffield. Another year older and wiser I am.
Happy New Year everyone xx
DAMN! I've also been off work and not seen this invite. Gutted! I don't have internet access at home so I've not been on here for a couple of weeks. Thanks for thinking of little old me though!
