No, was on the higher echalons of Darwin Lane at King Edwards BUT, at the same time as you. Tell me, did you go to Tapton from Lydgate? If so, I may know you.

Yes, I was at Tapton from 1983 to 1989 (I think), I'm sure Mrs Allott was my form teacher as well.

Do you remember Mr Hook who always had colour coded glasses on to match his shirts? I only ever wagged it once and he caught me!

And Mrs Nimmo - everyone in the place was scared of her but she was Ok really.

Yes remember him as the CDT teacher with bright 80s pin stripped shirts with matching glasses and ties :hihi:

Do you remember the other CDT teachers?

the one who worked in the top CDT room doing electrics/metal work who when in his 50s left his wife to run off with a girl from the sixth form. Rumour was that they went to australia.

also Mr Walker who had the middle CDT classroom (wood work), ran the duke of edinburgh award scheme and behaved like frank spencer. He drove a VW camper van.

Mr King is dead now.

I can remember the stupid aussie art teacher who everyone locked in the cupboard, Mr Bradshaw (French) who was seeing Mrs Finch.
Mr Mantle the ******** PE teacher.
Mr Gofton and the head Mr Speed, who only managed to find the way out of his office once a year.

What about Mrs Nimmo (sewing), and I'm trying to remember a geography teacher i had who would go to the back of the classroom open the fire door and have a crafty fag . Also trying to remember a history teachers name think it began with s , he was probably in his late 20s when i was there and if he caught you looking out of the window he would make you stand on your chair the rest of the lesson. but i thought he was a great teacher i really loved history and still do

Its Taptons 50th Anniversary this year and there is a reuinion type event planned for March/April I think. I can't put my hands on the date at this moment, but I'll post it in the next few days. You can always phone the school for details.

I was at Tapton from 83 to 89.
Yeah Mr Reid would always get into tantrums.
Can't remember my form teacher, but I was learning woodwork from Mr Hook and never forget I left the chuck key in one over the upright drills and nearly killed someone when I turned it on!
Mr King was a good teacher too, sad when I heard he had passed away.
Mr Jackson - Head of 6th form
Mr Speed - Top Headmaster and geography teacher
Mr Mantle and "Felix" his big stick. Laughed my head off when he was bollocked for leaving the kids too roam around London whilst he went and watched the tennis at wimbledon!

I went to Tapton in 1981 - 1983 from Lydgate. Then moved to Wales High for rest of education till 1986. Remember most of teachers mentioned.

I was in Mr Reids class back in 1979 , he was a loony running round the classroom doing the chicken or something stupid, enjoyed my time at tapton although when i was there you wouldn't have been able to tell, Mr May i remember well (deputy head ) after having the cane so many times from him...good days.
