I am getting a new dog tonight and need to register him at a vets, can anyone recommend a good one which will not break the bank in the S5 or surrounding areas??

I can definately recomment Peak Vets in Woodseats, not that near you, but worth a longer journey I think.

Also recomend Peak, they also are one of the few vets that offers an out of hours service.

Had terrible experiences with Abbey and cats.....certainly wouldn't recommend them personally.

Also, in emergency you have to go to Barnsley. Find somewhere that does its OWN out of hours cover!

peak vets, they are open from approx 8am till 9pm, they have their own out of hours service so no silly fees like the 1 that operates out of the pdsa premises, they are excellent vets, and they let me pay in installments which is even better, can't fault them, they have been wonderful with all my pets from gerbs to rabbits to dogs. My friend travels from mosborough on the bus with her rats to use them!!

Me too, i live at wincobank but have changed to peak the travel is more than worthwhile for the service

Another thumbs up for Peak vets here, we use them for our menagerie of animals and the out of hours service is second to none. There is always someone on site to look after the animals and I was lucky enough to do a work placement with them later on last year and see how professional and dedicated all the staff were. They have fantastic facilities and veterinary surgeons and nurses qualified in extra things such as behaviour, nutrition and Greg who specialises in eyes. They open til late at night monday-friday til 9 and also open on saturdays and sundays.I certainatley wouldn't go anywhere else now :)

I go to Abbeymoor on halifax road and have done since 1980 i have always found them to be excellent and i had my banditpuss pts saturday and was treat with so much concern from the staff,offered a cuppa,a quiet room ect all the little touches which make things a bit easier in times of loss
