If you're stuck for something to do with the kids, I can fully recommend the Maize Maze at Cawthorne - next to Cannon Hall Farm park - only a couple of quid to get in and you can lose the kids in the 7 foot high Maize for hours...

There's also a range of other things to do and Cannon Hall is next door....

check out the website at 'www.maizemaze.co.uk' for more details etc...

I picked up a leaflet for this place but it is only a temporary attraction. Come harvest time the maize will come down to winter feed the cows.

Might pay it a visit.

Usually harvested at end of September - its open throughout the school holidays then weekends only till end of Sept..

Looking at it on Thursday it looks like its a bit behind this year..

The Maize will help feed their dairy herd during the winter so its probably a good earner for them as a farm..

I went to the one in Skeggy, it was brilliant. Unfortunately my helicopter was in for repair so no aerial photo:( Maze pic (http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y69/trendydave/Skeggy200514.jpg)

We were going to take our grandchildren there today/Saturday but unfortunately it puddled it down all day!! Anyhow the 22 month old was poorly with a high temperature cos he is cutting his back teeth and in no mood for walking in the rain! So we ended up going and buying a new telly cos the old one packed up last week. We found a good deal in Asda.........28" "normal" telly for £149.97p. Of course it didn't fit our ancient telly bit of furniture and I was very pleased with that! lol. So while I cooked the tea I sent my other half to buy one of these modern stands for it......Asda of course because it was made to take the new telly. Looks great but we have spent hours trying to get a good picture on it.......and make the video etc "talk" to the telly!! Give me a lappy any day......I can work one of those, but as for the telly!!!!!! I nearly chucked it through the window! I nearly chucked it at him as well because he was very quick in telling me how to work it when he has no idea himself. The telly was the easy bit.......the hard bit was attaching all the cables to the right parts and then making all the extra's work with the telly. Anyhow.....I have finally got it sorted. My other half insisted that we could not have the video and the dvd working at the same time........bless him!! Grrrrrrrrr!
Anyhow......I diverse. I would have loved to go to the maize maze........never mind the grandkids! We wont get the chance now until the middle of September because of work and our own holiday at the end of this month. We will really try and go though........taking grandkids as a smokescreen for our own desires of course. lol. It does really look to be a great day out for not too much money.
