i think its something to do with the texture of meat, my daughter is the same but I offer her the same as I make for the whole family, sometimes she might try some, sometimes not but I dont make a fuss when she doesnt. I wouldnt say your son is a lazy eater and as long as he is eating throughout the day and is healthy and well I wouldnt worry

How's about getting him to cut up his own food and getting invloved in meal preparation? How is he with sausages, burgers, meatballs and even fish? What about shepherds pie?

Sounds like my daughter, she wont eat chicken and the like so we dont force her. but were lucky cos she loves fruit.

As long as hes getting nutrients of some form things should work out ok I would av thought. But id definately get a medical opinion.

Neither of my children (1 and 4) like the texture of meat. Options I've used are: veggie things like quorn and other meat free products; investing in a good childrens cookbook and learning to make healthy burgers, fishcakes, chicken nuggets, etc; and plenty of cheese and eggs and pulses to replace the protein he's missing.
Kids are terribly faddy critters, but they rarely allow themselves to starve.

Good luck xx

My little lad (just 2) doesn't like 'chewy meat' much either. But he will eat some if mixed up in one of the mushy baby meals - so he'll eat say a carbonara, bolognese or one of those sloppy stews. I think it's an excuse for him not eating things he doesn't like that much because he knows if he doesn't, I'm more likely to bring the pudding earlier, as he certainly likes to chew a biscuit ;)

But when I was young I remember not liking 'chewy meat' much myself! I've never liked chops because they always seem to be like that, or overcooked meat. So it could just be his taste.

It worries you sick though when they don't seem to enjoy eating their meals. I'd try making some meaty pasta sauce type things, like bolognese then it's already 'small'. Or meaty soups?

A bit of encouragement...If he's still doing it when he's at school/nursery then I bet he'll stop because he'll want to be like the other boys.
