Finally some action from the government:

"Ten foreign nationals who the Home Office says pose a threat to national security have been detained in the UK.
The Jordanian cleric Abu Qatada, who is subject to a control order, is among them, the BBC has learned.

Home Secretary Charles Clarke confirmed 10 people would be detained pending deportation but he did not name them.

The raids, in Leicestershire, London, Luton and the West Midlands, follow an agreement between the UK and Jordan that deportees would not be persecuted."

From BBC News Website

About time we started to deal with the terrorist threat. These people sought sanction in Britain and then turned against the very society that took them in.

Its about time..... lets hope they find many more terrorists to deport back to the rocks they crawled from under. I think the goverments being too soft by even getting agreements for thier safety, did they care about ours while they were out spreading thier evil thoughts and actions?

About time .. and Luton being in the list doesn't surprise me. I worked there once and its a horrible place where the Asian community is VERY aggressive towards anyone white or black!

Shame 50 innocent British people have had to die before this government has taken any action.

It sounds like 'Shutting the stable door after the event' to me.

Isn't it about time we looked into why people are claiming asylum in our country? It seems that some of the people who have been rounded up are here because of what they say or have said back in their country of origin.

If what they say is insighting religious hatred or failing to condemn hanus crimes made in the name of their twisted beliefs (not religion before the goody two shoes squad jump on me).

Then maybe we should reject their claims, not let them in with open arms and then wonder why they have turned on us!

The , "stable door "comment is very apt. We have , about 500,000 illegal immigrants here in this country.
We don't really know who they are , where they are or exactly why they're here.
Although the bombings up to now have been carried out by home-grown terrorists , more or less , who's to say what other types of terrorists may or may not be here .
The terrorists are not thick in the case of planning . Is it ....or was it ....... beyond the intelligence of the governments to realise that the terrorists may have smuggled some professionals in amongst the half million ?
Bit late , now though , innit ?

one of the 'arrested 10' as already been tried and found guilty in the country he is being deported back to - he faces a life in prison - which is nice ;)

Perhaps he should have thought twice before spewing his bile in his 'saviour country'

Hopefully there will be more to follow...

we'll prtobably end up paying for trips for the family to visit him in prison - where he will be well treated - we've got a piece of paper to say so - yep that would convince me :)

But from today's Guardian -

"It is expected the men will appeal against detention and deportation - actions that will halt their immediate removal. The legal battle could take as long as a year and involve not only the law lords but also the European court of human rights in Strasbourg."

and the Times is anticipating a three year fight, -

http://www.timesonline.co.uk/article/0,,22989-1731797,00.html.

So assuming they'll get legal aid to contest their deportation and their families will continue to receive state benefits while they're locked up, it's going to be an expensive business for the tax-payer.
