Hi,

I have a newish computer with pre-installed windows XP. Windows is legit and I have the serial number but I haven't got a copy of the disc.

I am wanting to re-install Windows but obviously cant without this. What can I do?

Ring them up and ask for the disc they should have supplied you with it when you bought the computer.

However why do you want to re-install windows if it is a fresh install?

often preinstalled kit comes with a recovery partition on the hard drive. This has the original build on it in image form and you can restore it to factory defaults from that. Otherwise they will supply the disk image on CD /DVD. Not many of the budget suppliers of ready made computers will supply you with a copy of the windows CD, you may have to borrow one and just use your CD key when it asks for it. Be aware that computers like that often have non standard parts in them that windows does not recognise so you may have to hunt for the drivers as well.

Is Elonex a budget supplier?

They are a bulk supplier of PC's so I would be very supprised if they gave you a full copy of windows on CD. Same as Dell and Time and all the others.

EVERYBODY should get a windows cd ..........windows mashes up enough to need to reinstall godsake
