View Full Version : Doing something out of the ordinary
Agent Orange 09-01-2010, 08:22 Have you ever thought "sod it" and decided you want to do something that you wouldn't normally do. I am talking anything from taking a risk to having an adventure. It could be anything from leaving your job to throwing yourself out of a plane.
So, have you?
Babooshka 09-01-2010, 08:31 Yes, but I can not repeat that particular event!

Why not? :suspect:
Grim Reaper 09-01-2010, 08:37 No, but there is along list of things I'd like to do such as - Bungeeing, Throwing myself out of a plane etc
shanes teeth 09-01-2010, 08:41 I was thinking of having cornflakes instead of crispies for breakfast, but I may just think about it and do it tomorrow if I feel strong enough.
Agent Orange 09-01-2010, 08:43 Shanes, be careful now.... living life on the edge there, mate ;)
Why not? :suspect:
Yes, "why not?"

Sold up and travelled Europe for 3 years.
Recently bought property in the States.
Europe was a hard decision to make but one of the best I've made. Considering the people I met on my journeys it wasn't that so ordinary though.

Go 50/50. Dare you!

Maybe you're right.Maybe I'll wait 'til the spring when things look clearer.

That's just madness!Surely they each have a different sogginess ratio and therefore neither could be eaten at optimum crunchiness.

Your right, the suggestion was ridiculous, i never took in the physics or dynamics. I feel foolish now.

Sounds like it paid off for you.
I usually plod along in life, slaving away to ordinary things, but on the occasion when my life goes wayward, I think about doing something less than ordinary.

It's an easy mistake to make.Don't reproach yourself, but think it through in future. There are too many people on internet forums only too willing to give out spurious and ill thought out advice!
I fancy doing a trek to Machu Pichu at some point, but it's not a 'sod it, let's go' kind of thing, more of a, which summer can we fit that in, thing.
It's still the out of the ordinary and the physical challenge that attract me to it though.
I did a few years. Got up one Saturday morning after a heavy night on the juice and decided I fancied a holiday so looked for online adventures. 30 mins later I'd blown half my annual salary on a cruise of Antarctica. Best impulsive decision I ever made.
Agent Orange 09-01-2010, 09:32 I quite fancy tackling a round the world yacht race. 10 month circumnavigation of the globe.... what an adventure that would be.

I'd be hard pushed to chose between the two..really.

then flip a coin

Mmmm admittedly, I'd love to do the two, but if I could get 10 months off work and sufficient sponsorship then crewing a yacht is the way forward.
Bloomdido 09-01-2010, 10:48 Try doing something you wouldn't normally go near at least once a month. It may just be listening to a type of music or going to a concert that you wouldn't normally go near, or reading a classic novel or going to a forum meet or watching discovery channel for the evening or going to church or writing to your MP or starting a blog or ....
some of those things are fairly pointless if you just try them once, starting a blog for example.
Most of the others would surely just leave you feeling like you'd wasted an evening and bored.
For me to do something OOTO it would also have to be something that I expected to enjoy or gain something from, not something that's out of the ordinary because I choose not to do it. Knitting would be out of the ordinary for me, and for a good reason, I'd rather stick the knitting needles up my nose than spend an evening twisting wool together.
Agent Orange 28-01-2010, 15:29 I am going to climb Kilimanjaro :)
Rupert_Baehr 28-01-2010, 15:39 This forum's prude checker won't allow me to say the name of the mountain I'm going to climb in Spring.
