Im a little niffed... at the mo ive 3 dogs... up to last feb i had 4, patch died at the grand age of 17... now im not one for paying for a dog, (£££££s) although i admit ive looked through the fee ads at dogs this past week or two... id love to rehome a dog from one of the many dog rescue centers... but why the hell are they in places where you need a friggin car to get there?? ive looked in to the rspca and they want me to take all 3 of my dogs on the bus and family to meet the dogs etc etc... is there no easy way to help give a dog in need a home for life now days...??

There's some lovely dogs down at the pound and the staff are very helpfull too :). You don't have to take your own dogs down to meet them and you can often come away with a dog the same day(if it's 7 days is up in which it can be claimed). Good luck in finding the right one for you.

The spring street pound isn't the RSPCA, they are completely seperate. You don't have to take your own dogs down to the pound :)

The RSPCA used to be in the spring street building before they moved to the new site at Attercliffe. The council dog pound don't ask to meet the other dogs in the family.

They didn't suggest it did they? Just to make sure they get along.

To be fair, there's a good reason why rescues do home checks and check out the other dogs in the family first - the dogs in the pound are on borrowed time and they just want them out of there ASAP but dogs in rescues can stay a little longer and the rescue would rather that than the dog rehomed and returned. It's pretty crappy for the dog :(

If you are in need of transport I can get three medium sized dogs and one person in my car and can run you to a shelter - can't do it until the weather's cleared up a little though as my car hates snow! Would just need a little help with fuel money but am happy to help if it's needed. Try the pound though by all means - lovely dogs in desperate need of loving homes.

You can look on rain rescue website under sheffield dogs for the ogs held at sheffield dog pound at spring st, please note that some may have been rehomed since the site was updated. It's worth going down to have a look as not all the dogs ready are on the website :)

The contact numbers for the dog pound are 2930362 or 07817497995. The web site isn't always up to date so you're best to go and have a look. I've put a reserve on a dog who's owner has died. He was locked in the flat for 3 days with the body before being found. They are waiting for the police to sign him over then he's mine :)

He was just beautiful - those eyes!

They're like my Zeb's eyes - you just can't resist. Zeb's an ex-poundie, but I got him via Rain Rescue, poor lad was 15 years old and not much hope of being re-homed from the Pound.

He's now curled up next to me on the sofa, gradually shoving me off, while my other oldie, Mina, snores gently at the far end!

Keep looking, I'm sure you'll find the right one soon, Don't forget you can put a reserve on a dog at the pound if it isn't ready for rehoming when you see it. That's what I did with mine and I brought him home last night :)
