View Full Version : Its used to be a giggle on here
CorkerSWFC 07-01-2010, 21:21 I have to say it's changed a lot on here these day's and most of the old regular Owls posters have been long gone.
I can understand the banter coming from the red side as we are crap simple as.
But the amount of threads which are saying the same thing have took there toll on me, it's not even a laugh like it used to be.
I like a good old laugh but some of the things on here these day's arnt banta it's "childishness".
No more am i wasting my time when all you get in return is a load of bxxxxx in return.
I love football and like talking about it but thats something that happens less and less in here.
No point in bashing your head against a brick wall, cause that's what it feels like in here these day's, anyway at least you might start winning summat!!!!
It's been emotional,
CORKS
nikki-red 07-01-2010, 21:53 Dont go Corker, I dont contribute very often but I read all the threads and it wouldnt be the same without you!
i dont use this much myself now, its over powered by mods... kills the banta.. i know its a family forum blah blah blah, but at the end of the day its killing this forum.. (footie)
LADYBIRDS 07-01-2010, 22:13 Stay and fight your corner, Corker , i am as guilty as anyone, but you have the option to fight back or create your own threads.
It seems to me in these disaster times in S6 , folk are abandoning their team and its shown in the Owls leaving the forum, its not the Blades leaving the forum, unless their pushed by the mods.
Perhaps its the impending doom and more disapointments with investment or/and relegation battles!! thats causing the jumping off the forum.
I for one hope you stay and fight for the Owls cause.

I know what you mean Corky, and it's one of the reasons I'm now posting about a third of what I used to. Of course the other problem is that some of the good old "banter" posters are banned, so we get more meaningless inane posts, and less of those that would create a bit of humorous give & take. Don't leave it all Corky, just watch from a distance and respond to the good uns.

Banter is fine, abuse, swearing and childish name calling aren’t, I assume I am one of the Mods that are killing it off, if so can I ask how you think things can be improved?
I started of by taking a backseat approach and that obviously didn’t work so now I have taken the zero tolerance (pardon the Americanism)approach, no swearing, abuse, names, pigs etc
As you mentioned this is a family forum, if people want a more “heated” debate there are plenty of unofficial fan forums out their.

Sorry to burst your bubble but a certain 3 or 4 posters can't post without the pigs, blunts etc etc and I haven't seen one mod comment.
It doesn't matter anyway. Rather embarrassing for the children that need to use these terms.
As for Corky, he is a top lad respected by both sides.
Grandad.Malky 08-01-2010, 11:00 From Owlstalk, a quote that applies to any forum :-
“I appeal to you all to read posts/threads on this site and before pressing 'reply' read it again, look at the poster, and ask yourself if you believe it to be a genuine fan OR just 'certain people' trying to cause as much **** as possible to rain down on Sheffield Wednesday Football Club”
Bladesman 08-01-2010, 11:01 It used to be a giggle on here?
I must of blinked and missed it. :D

Agree pal, both me and Madowl post alot less on the footy section these days due to the bias. We chat more about footy on facebook! thats saying something.
Annoni_mouse 08-01-2010, 11:23 I've complained about the same thing on here in the past, Corker.
It's all well and good blaming the mods for being heavy handed, but maybe certain posters should 'man-up' and accept that sometimes - if not all the time- they act like little kids and deserve their rebukes. Banter is all well and good and can be witty and good natured. But most of the time it's childish and inane.
Generally speaking, you can judge the quality of a poster on this section from the number of times they use Wendies/Blunts/Pigs etc. in their posts...
As for me, I only post occasionally on here these days, 'cos I get fed up of wading through the same silly name calling and regurgitated threads.
Grandad.Malky 08-01-2010, 11:24 Agree pal, both me and Madowl post alot less on the footy section these days due to the bias. .
Given the respective positions of the clubs the bias isn’t exactly surprising, Wednesday have had their day and no doubt at some point it will return.

Good point.
CorkerSWFC 08-01-2010, 12:14 Right maybe i was a little harsh last night, but my point is more than owt is theres hardley any decent footy chat and thats what this section was made for.
May i suggest that we could maybe discuss football in general aswell as the two Sheffield club's, that way it may stop people going over and over the same thing all the time, and also gives us a lot more to talk about, no-one really goes on the general sport section, which is a shame as it's been a brilliant season in the premiership so far.
Its something i was going to suggest in a seperate thread but it's something i think would improve this section of the forum no end.
Just a thought like.......

.......
“Sheffield Sport & Activities” explains its self, have “General Sports Chat” for anything other than football and rename “Sheffield Football” to just “Football", if that’s you idea why not post it in ” Suggestions & Feedback” on the home page,
jason owl 08-01-2010, 14:14 Think this is a good forum for chatting football and that kind of stuff. I go on the iti forum which is more flexabel and you are allowed to say what you want. Some top lads on there.

did you say it for attencion mate. Dont let the bertys get you down. <removed>.
Blade1983 08-01-2010, 14:41 just my opinion - but I think it went down hill since they created a "Football" section within the sport section. Used to be better when it was just "Sheffield United megathread" and "Sheffield Wednesday megathread". IMO
CorkerSWFC 08-01-2010, 14:43 did you say it for attencion mate. Dont let the bertys get you down. Iti.
If you mean attention then far from it, ive coped longer than most....

Like i said it would be better if we could talk about all football and not always stuck to "Sheffield footy chat".

CorkerSWFC 08-01-2010, 14:52 nice one pal.
Have you been banned yet?
It's not very nice having your passport took off you when England are playing abroad and having to sign at a cop shop every time England play.
Not to mention not being allowed within 3 miles of the ground or in town between certain times.
Watch ursen or you might just find yourself doing just that, the internet has eyes m8 take it from someone whos had experiance.
