Sell something good and don't screw your customers - word of mouth old boy!

For general awareness then local PR (assuming it's a local shop) can be highly effective. Think of some interesting news angles about your shop and the local area and get the name of a journalist. Draft your story and mail it to a journo. What does your shop sell?

Contact Geoff/JoeP about advertising on here! Don't know how much it costs but I'm sure it is effective, well it gets a lot of views anyways

Also maybe get in contact with Exposed magazine?

Can you put it on your signature?

I've noticed a few people do that....or is it frowned on?

Yeah I would try that. The worse that can happen is that the mods will take it off. As said before, It may be worth asking Geoff 1st though, if anything its at least courteous. Thats what I did.

if you have a website, you could make it your homepage on your profile in here. Also, I'm pretty sure I've seen self-employed people advertising their services on their signatures...

Not a camouflage shop, is it?

In order to put our mighty brains to the test at least tell us what you sell/intend to sell?

That's not advertising, that's asking for promo advice!

You should have a poster of a semi naked girl with tiles covering her private bits. Underneath you can use the caption 'fancy a night on the tiles?'

You cant buy this ****! Hows that for a slice of fried gold?

On a more serious note, The 22 Immutable Laws of Branding (http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/1861976054/sumptionorg-21/) is a very short, very simple, very brilliant book which explains how to go about building your business the right way, it could save you a lot of wasted effort. Covers stuff such as why PR works better than advertising for building a new brand, and why puns (like Splodge_CRB's) might be fun to come up with, but rarely actually win you any new custom.

Was I the only one that saw it?

This guy's first post on the forum was a request to exchange naked pictures by e-mail! I assume it got pulled fairly quickly.

Good job I didn't waste the good puns on him!

* I don't do the good stuff for free.....:suspect:

The whole point of advertising/PR is to build a brand and keep it in the public eye
A tile is a tile....why should I shop for them at one place over another, in this case you need to market the company over the product. The product can get by on short term gimmickry but the company itself needs to be regarded as a brand too

And if the guy wants naked pics via email I recommend a name change to T*tsup
