View Full Version : Cargo & Ug [ FREE LAUNCH PARTY ] 23_01_10 at SAWA
die 2B loco 03-01-2010, 17:41 The rumours are true. Urban Gorilla is back! But this time say hello to it's little friend...
Old buddies and recent sparring partners Urban Gorilla and Cargo are joining forces to host what promises to be the new decades most utterly brilliant parties.
2009 saw the great ape occasionally awakening from its slumber to host a selection of sublime events at The Earl.
What can be said other than this ape was made to party?!
Novembers edition of said sporadic hoe-downs saw Cargo rise to the challenge in what turned out to be an amazing versus night.
Attendees of the UG vs. Cargo vs. Sulphate night know exactly what to expect when two of Sheffields veteren party starters join forces. The new united camp of Cargo and UG are expecting big things from the new decade. With an eye watering team of residents, a brand new venue and top guests already lined up for February and March; this is a partnership that will be hard to beat.
Sheffield. Get. Ready.

And if you play nicely, we might just start booking our own little guest or two for downstairs in the future..
discodown 04-01-2010, 14:39 Hats off to Sawa for being forward thinking and hosting stuff like this and of course hats off to the peeps involved. If it were a week later i'd have been paid and could go!
Chris BIO 04-01-2010, 15:17 I'd humbly suggest SAWA are extremely forward thinking anyway, long before agreeing to host this! Like-minded peeps, friends and family vibes - s'all good. :)

The two nights that have continually supplied me with the best events over a period of 3-4 years coming together to form a night of knee trembling excitement!!
This is set to be something BIG is Sheffield for 2010, no false advertising, no 'secret' guests, no overpriced door tax, these guys let music do the talking and by god it's always bang on!
Can you tell I'm just a little excited?!!
really looking forward to playin on the launch night!

Like-minded peeps, friends and family vibes - s'all good. :)No need to be humble! You're quite right. Sawa is going to be big news in 2010 so long as they keep doing what they're doing. they deserve nothing but support

Yeah lets hope so. I'm sure they will... we've had lots of positive messages on the facebook event so fingers crossed we should be onto a winner.

I'm sure they will... we've had lots of positive messages on the facebook event so fingers crossed we should be onto a winner.as much as I despise snobbery and elitism Sawa's greatest strength will be that it doesn't become too popular. As soon as it gets mega popular its appeal and ethos will be diminished

I know what you mean. Hopefully we can recreate the atmosphere that UG had at The Fez and that Cargo has had this year at Lions Lair: enough likeminded individuals to fill the place but not too popular or fashionable that it doesnt feel special.
I think we're onto something.
Chris BIO 12-01-2010, 12:21 as much as I despise snobbery and elitism Sawa's greatest strength will be that it doesn't become too popular. As soon as it gets mega popular its appeal and ethos will be diminished
I don't see how the ethos would diminish, surely that emanates down from the owners, promoters, DJs etc and remains regardless? It's possibly doing them a discredit to suggest otherwise.
I think in terms of what you mean, its location is quite key - like Dulo before it, the fact it's out of the way means you've got to be making a special effort to go there, so there's less chance of having 'joe public' popping in on the way to Lloyds etc and you're more likely to be surrounded by like-minded peeps. It's nice to have somewhere to hang out that feels a bit more special and not just 'another bar'.
Anyway, no need to over-analyse things, it'll be awesome. I like disco dancing and disco dancing likes me.

Very much looking forward to it, I'm bursting at the seams to have a play of some records in front of someone other than a disinterested cat! :D
die 2B loco 12-01-2010, 19:10 Why not bring the cat? Just make sure he clicks attending on the facebook and RA events wont you?

Response on the Facebook & Resident Advisor pages would suggest this is going to be quite a busy night so please try get down early.
Also, tickets are strictly limited for the after party and will only be available at SAWA on the night, again get down early if you want to be there because once they’ve gone there gone!!
See you all Saturday,

daisy-rascal 22-01-2010, 15:48 Theres a real buzz for this about, and why not I ask.
Just to re-make the point however, there are less after party tickets than there will be folk at Sawa so get on it early chaps and chapesses.
No ticket, no entry.
Sorry to sound militant. See you at the front as they say. S.
