Hi,

As this week's walk has been cancelled, I thought that I would try a last minute arrangement for an alternative walk. I know that I haven't been around of late, but I was looking forward to this one. So, anyone prepared to join me?

Meeting: Malin Bridge tramstop at 11.30 am.

Route: Rivelin valley and to top of Wyming Brook.

This will be a shortish walk so I predict that we will only be out for 2/3 hours max.

The roads in the area are clear and the route itself should be relatively clear of any snow.

Just a note to say that we went up Rivelin on New Years Day and the paths were still pretty slippy

Would have loved to go on that walk but only just got out of bed:o Did part of it the other day and as Taxman said it was like a skating ring on most of the paths.

The walk didn't go to plan. An old lady was knocked over by a dog and she damaged her leg and as she couldn't walk, I called an ambulance. Thought that was the end of my first aiding, but the paramedics could not move her as they didn't have the specialist equipment to carry her up the hefty ravine.

A little later, the air ambulance arrived but could not find anywhere to land due to the terrain and the amount of trees in the area. So, they quickly scarpered off and it was left to the paramedics to figure out how to move her. At last, two hours and 30 mins later the mountain rescue arrived and plucked the lady to safety.

Fortunately, the last I heard, the old lady was doing ok and was on her way to Northern General.

What a day!

How come you describe this as a "last minute attempt to arrange a walk"?

You've given us 11 months notice !

Ooops. I was in a rush lol.

It's not for nothing that they call me mrpedantic !

I didn't get to Redmires in the end what with the above excitement.
