View Full Version : Search engine registration chuckie 09-08-2005, 20:31 Which is the best way to register my website with all the main search engines. steev 09-08-2005, 20:37 First choice would be the Open Directory Project (http://dmoz.org/add.html) Addme.com (http://www.addme.com/) is a bit of a pain, & keeps trying to sell you further services, but the free option is worth it as long as you're happy showing their (very small) logo at the bottom of your homepage. That gets most of 'em... chuckie 09-08-2005, 20:41 Thanks i will check it out. Lurch 09-08-2005, 21:21 I just used a few tricks when I was building my site and typing my business name into google gets me the first 2 pages of results. Not really any additional submitting required, and it's ongoing so no need to keep re-submitting, updating submissions etc.... TheManWhoCan 09-08-2005, 21:31 The classic one of course is www.google.co.uk/addurl (http://www.google.co.uk/addurl) The more people that link to you, and the more you link to other people, the higher your google rating will be. You should also use a robots.txt file in the root directory of your website folder to direct the Googlebot or other bots (Slurp, MSN etc..) to the relevant pages, so that they know whether to spider them or not. The tighter the relevance and keyword density, the better your ranking will be. Hope that helps! |
