View Full Version : Will either club field weakened teams in the cup?
Titanic99 29-12-2009, 10:33 F.A Cup time is fast approaching, will Wednesday go with a weakened side to help their fight against relegation, or will the neccessity for additional revenue dictate a full strength side is put out.
Same with United, will they give fringe players a run to keep their stronger players free for the play-off push.
Personally, I think Wednesday will go for a strong side, whereas United will give a few more of their fringe players a run out.
Can we get a much weaker side?
Are we planning on fielding one of the giant owls?

i hope the blades play all there kids we need to make sure of the playoffs.
Antics^^ 29-12-2009, 11:36 I think it depends on the cup competition, the opponents, and what round it is.
Some people say Blackwell is a Warnock wannabe, so expect to see a few fringe players against QPR, also expect to hear 'we can now concentrate on the league' excuse when we lose :)
I think Wednesday need a bit of momentum at the moment, a good cup run will boost morale and also bring in much needed revenue!
hurstyowl 29-12-2009, 11:40 i think its a good chance to finally get past the 3rd round, especially if we can get a very good tie in the next round. if we lose though, im not too fussed.
CorkerSWFC 29-12-2009, 11:47 I think he will play most of the main starting 11 me, like you say it's a good chance to get beyond the third round for a change.
Panthera 29-12-2009, 12:10 if we can get a good result in the cup it will be a shot in the arm confidence wise and can only help us in the league.

agreed, he might play esajas instead of jj or hinds instead of purse but id say pretty much same xi
canadablade 29-12-2009, 12:40 Both might field weakened sides and why not, we need the players fresh for the play-off push and you need them fresh for the relagation battle, I mean lets face it neither one of us is going to win the Cup
CorkerSWFC 29-12-2009, 12:48 It brings in much needed revenue if you progress further and that's something were in dire need of.
Get through this round and draw Man Utd at Old Trafford and it's a nice 750 grand straight away, Leed's are getting that for playing them.

I wonder if Warnock will go full strength because it's wednesday.

I reckon he will, but they havent got the biggest of squads so he might rest a couple, im looking forward to it me, it should be a good game hopefully.

Warnock is supposed to be down to the bare bones at palace but they do keep picking results up.

im praying that he doesnt play moses or ambrose!!
Stockers 29-12-2009, 16:53 I reckon the Blades will have a team on the lines of the following;
Bunn
France Morgan Stewart Taylor
Little Harper Williamson Reid
Cresswell Evans
A mixture of returning injured players and also fringe players.
As for Warnock i doubt he'll allow his team to give anything less than 100% against Wednesday, he'll get plenty of stick from the Kop (well the South Stand :) ).
