View Full Version : Anybody watched the film Magnolia ?
If so, wondered if you could put me out of my misery!! I'm trying to remember the name of the song in the film, towards the end, where all the characters start to sing along to the same song! Hope someone can help me!
Thanks!

Wise Up......................................
I'll search on Aimee Mann, just hope I recognise the title of the song! I won't sleep tonight if I don't find out!
Sorry Robbie, you reply wasn't there when I looked. Thanks for that!!!!
If it's the slow one where everyone sings then I'm not sure who that's by - I think the Aimee Mann one is 'Two of Us', which is quite a happy song, though she may have also written this slow one? I'm sure there was a soundtrack album, try looking that up on Amazon.
cgksheff 10-08-2005, 13:31 Samples from the sound track are on this amazon page:

Hello_Nikki 10-08-2005, 14:03 Oo, I've heard the Aimee Mann album..and my, it is rather awesome.. as is the film. Just gotta love those frogs! ;)
It's not
What you thought
When you first began it
You got
What you want
Now you can hardly stand it though,
By now you know
It's not going to stop
It's not going to stop
It's not going to stop
'Til you wise up
You're sure
There's a cure
And you have finally found it
You think
One drink
Will shrink you 'til you're underground
And living down
But it's not going to stop
It's not going to stop
It's not going to stop
'Til you wise up
Prepare a list of what you need
Before you sign away the deed
'Cause it's not going to stop
It's not going to stop
It's not going to stop
'Til you wise up
No, it's not going to stop
'Til you wise up
No, it's not going to stop
So just...give up
KookyKoo 10-08-2005, 19:33 Paul Thomas Anderson actually wrote the film based on a song by Aimee Mann... specifically "Deathly", it contains the line "now that I've met you, would you object to never seeing each other again?" which the character who is the daughter of the game show host and seeing the policeman says to the policeman in a restaurant...
I thought he based te film on the entire body of Aimee's work?
KookyKoo 11-08-2005, 00:55 ah yes I stand corrected, he built Claudia's character out of this line...

I do think it's a v interesting approach to film-making; being an Aimee Mann fan anyways I was v enthusiastic!
