hello all i have a gas fire and fire surround at the moment but im wanting a change i need a quote for my marble surround taking out and a new electric fire fitting (one of those that sit inside the wall ..... i know it will involve some plastering ect ..... im wanting to have my tv fitted above so wall will need chaneling out and replastering and possibly some shelving putting up x can anyone recomend either a good company to use or any ideas ?? thankx

we used B.R.S on Leppings lane twice in the last couple of years, reasonable price and the fitter was great number is 2348331. Saved the number incase we needed them again. you can't put a price on a good gas fitter. we bought a gas cooker from a different shop a few years ago and the fitter they sent was a right cowboy..nearly blew the house up. Would deffo recomend B.R.S though the fitter we had was called Mark.. top lad

Can't advise about a fitter, but be careful if you want to mount your TV over a fire, you'd need to check that the area you're putting the TV into doesn't get too hot.

thanks xx yea i know thats why i wanted an electric one rather than the gas one we have we never really have it on to be honest so wud be just for the effect xx we was thinking of buying one from b&q or somewhere like that.... but need somoen who knows what there doing regarding knocking a bit of the wall out has anyone used anyone good for this ???

I think most surrounds sit flush to the wall as the fire is built into the surround.So the only thing you need chiselling out is for the wiring.But as its a electric replacing a gas fire your gas supply to the fire will have to be capped off and the hole for the old fire that goes to the chimney needs to be bricked up.
