but i have not got it yet.I ring city link on a daily bases just to check with them when i have a order arriving just in case it comes a day or two early which happens some times but not this time.I managed to talk to someone on on wednesday on the phone god knows how i got though to them but i did he said(wait till monday and call us back):suspect: So ive called and called and called and called i could go on for ages with this still the same answer(im sorry due to blahblahblahblah please call later)its much later now.
I have sent multiple enotes over the last 5 days and still nothing anybody else having the same problem as me.

Simpleton;)
ebuyer have a telephone now, a quick search on here should find the number
apperently they've relocated one of their warehouses, so it's probably due to that? dunno...
I ordered a 5.1 speaker set that i got a week ago and one of the speakers was DOA, took 4 days to say I can return it and its been 3 days now since I sent another enote asking for them to pick up the box from my work and can they send the replacement to my work as obviously they're not going to arrange for saturday pickup and delivery like I paid for the first time round for delivery!
ebuyers customer service sucks, I wish they'd improve it... they're great as long as you never have to return anything
got my new sound card today as promised, only came in a box 2x too big for the card with next to no protection. (thin polystirine at the bottom) supprised the card works fine. But came on time
susa41981 10-08-2005, 11:50 My advise to everyone is do not use ebuyer. My first and last experience with them was an absolute nightmare. Even thinking about the stress it caused me makes me start to panic. Basically I bought a pc off them and it blew up and it took absolutely ages to get it sorted with a refund minus the delivery charges of course but managed to get them back as well in the end
RazorSHarp 10-08-2005, 12:15 E-Buyer have and always will buy up all the junk that no one else can sell, at low prices and usually from ex UK stock as well (Overseas)
Loads of threads in here re E-Buyer so be warned !!!!
kall_sheff 10-08-2005, 12:35 they moved close to crystal peaks
RazorSHarp 10-08-2005, 12:37 They still seem pretty active up near the tram sheds. What they moved just the warehouse or the offices?
kall_sheff 10-08-2005, 13:57 my mate works in the warehouse . Its near the direct cars ,close to half way tram stop .office not sure .
Ebuyer are simply terrible.
They treat customers like dirt after they have grabbed your dosh.
People use them because they are buying solely on the price.
NEVER a wise thing to do.
now i think you are all being a bit harsh.. i mean sure they do some things badly and it can drive you insain but they do have good prices and i'v had a lot of good buys with them.
I bought a hard dsk from them, which arrived as a 20Gb drive, should have been 80Gb. Eventually got a swap - new one was also 20Gb. More enotes/wrangling finally swapped for a 80Gb. Costing me £5 a time to return drive each time (had to be special delivery) so that cost a good proportion of the drive price!
In all took over a month to from ordering to getting the correct drive, that was only after lots of enotes going to ebuyer nearly everyday.
That was an exception, I have used them a fair bit without issue though.
Hi craigy
Glad you have had success with Ebuyer, many have not , including myself.
I don't slag companies off withour reason , nor do I run with the crowd.
But if people are better informed , it may save them some grief.
Mention " the sale of goods act " to Ebuyer , and they assume you are talking in ancient greek , and pay you , or it , no heed.
Amazing how they suddenly understand though , when they reieve a notice fron the small claims court.
simpleton 10-08-2005, 17:40 Still not got my items still cant get though on the phone.
More enotes sent but this time sayin im giving trading standards a call,Tomorrow im off to the depot im 500qid out of pocket do you blame me.
thanks for the insite of ebuyer who would you recomend????

Yep. I use them a lot, along with www.spotonuk.com and www.scan.co.uk
However, I'm lucky to be within 20 minutes driving distance of them all so can pick up my goods. A lot of Yorkshire folk go to MicroDirect on a sunday.
simpleton 13-08-2005, 12:10 After goin down to the depot on thursday and speakin to a very helpfull and apolagetic customer support member she revised my order and sent it priority for friday and it still never arived so i managed to get to them with a different number only 3min wait (pm me for number)it will say( not a inbound number) and cut you off but keep trying takes about 4 atemps to get the opening.Anyway never came insisted on a refund and taking my buisness elsewhere.
Never using ebuyer again..
Martin_s 26-08-2005, 11:50 I'm unlucky enough to have 2 orders in the pipeline at the moment, worth £300 in total and I've been getting the run around.
I should have guessed things were going bad when the order before that was delayed by 3 days but I stupidly put in 2 orders for other parts.
The situation is now that I have one item that was due Tuesday, still showing as "pick in progress" and no sign of it turning up...
The other order is due next Tuesday and for some strange reason has been downgraded from "payment taken" to "order placed" which means that the money has been taken but I've absolutely no stock assigned to my order... All good stuff (NOT!) because 2 of the items I ordered are now out of stock.
So, after considering this at length I think it's fair to say that eBuyer will never be a supplier again or in the future. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they go out of business over the next year... unless, *gasp* they work out how to communicate effectively with customers and actually treat them with some modicum of respect.
Oh and as far as the whole phone number thing goes... I get through to the line now, every 4th attempt and it rings off after sitting in the queue for roughly 2 minutes... Complete waste of time.
I think trading standards in sheffield are going to be getting a letter...
Martin_s 26-08-2005, 11:52 Oh and just a thought but does anyone else find the whole average time to respond to call info on their contact page a total joke... :loopy: :suspect: :gag:
I find it a joke for sure, it took two and a bit weeks to return my 5.1 system and get a replacement... and they nearly sent it to my home address instead of my works address like I told them to..
but its ok, because I rang them and sat in a queue for about 25mins to tell the guy, and he was like, "when did you ask this?" and i said in an enote like I was supposed to and i was told it would be sent to my alternate address, so then he says "oh... wait, yes here it is. oh i'm very sorry sir, i'll change the address right now before they dispatch it"
but apperently the average wait for that day was like 5mins and longest was 12mins? i checked later in the day and somehow my 25min wait wasnt added to their stats :? amazing!
I would imagine there are a load of staff there that are as annoyed as the customers about this. It seems like they are very understaffed and have a rubbish system in place for dealing with problems. This probably stems from them growing and changing at a rate they can't really deal with.

No offense but I doubt very much that the information that anyone has been given or offered to explain what's happening is accurate at all.
Today for example I was told that the warehouse is being moved to Hull... whilst another colleague of mine had heard that they were opening a new warehouse in Hull... We have people on here talking about Crystal Peaks as an alternative... All very confusing.
I was also told, by customer services (after finding a different number via security..) that the Hull move involves staff being relocated and a lot of the staff simply don't want to go and are leaving/have left... which would explain the lack of response... but I'm taking it all with a pinch of salt...
Either way the overall cause for delays seems to be pretty clear...
> Warehouse move of stock is causing chaos regarding stock checking and availability information. In short they haven't got a clue what's in stock and what isn't.
> Staff levels are very low... Support reponse times, etc... are terrible.
Bottom line though, their communication is simply terrible, there is no public notice of the warehouse move, warning of delays, etc...
My recommendation at this point is to avoid them for at least the next month and possibly longer until the whole situation stabilises or shows itself as untenable as a supplier.
simpleton 26-08-2005, 17:37 I am glad that people feel the same as me having had my refunds back i can safely say i am not using ebuyer again i lost work becouse of them and taking my buisness to microdirect.
Thanks all for your gripes about ebuyer

Never used teh company but if you think about it it shouldn't be surprising.
These guys are offering a low price in a market place that traditionally has vry tight margins.
So, they will need to squeeze every last penny of margin from their sales - which will mean cutting costs as their prices are low.
For most companies, payroll and accomodation are the largest items on the balance sheet along with stock.
So, as you need a place to work from, and you need stock, you reduce payroll by either paying staff low wages or not having enough staff.
Only buy on price if you can walk in, hand over the money, walk out with the goods, and have the skill to manage without subsequent technical support and the time to go back and haggle if required.
Joe
the thing with ebuyer is that they aren't always the cheapest place either, but they have a large selection and i generally can't be arsed to buy from seperate places as usually the postage will add up to what you'd be saving from buying from the odd other place.
good places:
www.microdirect.co.uk
www.scan.co.uk
www.dabs.com - best customer support I've had so far
scan and micro direct are also great for customer support, and i think in future i will be sticking with micro direct and scan for most of my stuff

Joe, I appreciate where you're coming from and the whole "you should know better" arguement is something I've been happy to fall back on myself.
However, there are a couple of things you're missing here...
First is the simple fact is that this company could avoid ALL of this hassle, retain customers AND a profit to boot, if they just communicated.
Second, their service has never been this bad before and I've seen plenty of examples where their returns are slow, the communication sketchy, etc... but this has been a whole other order of bad.
So, with the greatest respect this is not business as usual and it's certainly not a case of getting what you pay for... I've received nothing, had to cancel orders or accept that I'm going to be waiting close to a month while things get unravelled and re-organised.
I think your right Martin, they certainly haven't ever been this bad, their customer service always was crap, but never this bad... but if they dont buck their ideas up they're going to loose a lot of customers
I know I'm going to be very reluctant to order from them again, over two weeks to return a product and recieve a replacement is crazy... Dabs are the best, usually got an RMA the same day, picked up the next day or day after, and a refund or return done in 24hrs... they're more expensive but least they have their act together
angelgirluk 19-09-2005, 20:59 I have to say eBuyer have always done us proud - we've never had a bad experience with them... yet!
Martin_s 20-09-2005, 11:44 Just as a small update to my earlier comments...
I figured I'd give them another shot about a week ago to see if things had changed and the result was much the same...
In the end I found myself faced with no choice but to cancel all my outstanding orders and sourcing them elsewhere.. So Ebuyer lost nearly £1k of my business in one foul swoop, let alone future orders.
Ironically one company that had a horrendous reputation in the past (ie: www.scan.co.uk ) got a chance to prove themselves and I've been surprised as heck with their level of service.
They managed to muck up sending the correct BUS version which is a common issue with Radeon 7000 graphics cards and their returns system and communication was positively brilliant in getting it all sorted out...
So, ebuyers loss is Scans gain...
commuter 20-09-2005, 11:53 had several attempts to get through on the number from their web page but failed - new hdd was overdue for delivery. I use www.saynoto0870.co.uk to find alternative numbers for any helplines - got one for ebuyer and got through to be told that "our systems not working at the moment!" No sh*t Sherlock! Had several conversations with variass (no spelling mistake just a comment on their ability) over a few days (8 days for a 3 day delivery lead time)
Spoke to someone who confirmed the delivery address as my office address conversation went
"is that ***?"
"yes, why"
"I'm coming for an interview on Friday"
"well you better hope I'm not f*****g interviewing you"
Parcel arrived by priority delivery on Friday morning! Won't be using them again!
Classic Rock 20-09-2005, 11:56 I'm astonished to read the contents of this thread. I've bought a few items from ebuyer in the past and have always had them delivered on time, with good (standard emails) communication and the parts have always worked.
Nevertheless.....with the power of the Forum, I shall watch this thread and be cautious about who to turn to when I next need to order something. Cheers guys.
Buffy
Ebuyer business account saves all for me, I just phone and get through right away, and give the numptie on the other end a yelling at, and they soon sort it out.
