I would love to join your walking group. Are you planning any Saturday walks as I watch my son play football most Sundays. Also, are you a very young bunch - I'm in my fifties and don't want to feel out of place!
Thanks
Shame your walk today has been cancelled.
Don't worry thomps1, there are more than a few regulars in their 50s!
Walks are usually on a Sunday although some people do arrange impromptu Saturday walks occasionally. There are also daytime walks organised by one walker and in Summer we try to do evening walks, usually Thursdays.
Village Owl 03-01-2010, 15:49 Hi Thomps1, all you have to do to join is turn up on a walk, though we ask that you post on that walks thread to say that your coming so we know who to expect. The next walk will be posted shortly, our new members officer will be in touch with you soon. In the meantime take a look at the thread called New Sheffield Shamblers as it tells you all about us. We look forward to seeing you on a walk soon.
Thank you Taxman and Village Owl. I am going to try to pluck up the courage and join the next walk.

'Plucking up courage' is something we have all done at one time or another before we've joined our first walk, so we all know what you mean. The only thing I can add though is to say just give it a go - you'll not regret it!
newby40's 06-01-2010, 07:04 Hi thomps 1
I am joining the walk for the first time this week, I'm looking forward to meeting some new people, seeing a new place and I'm hoping I don't need oxygen along the way!haha See you on Sunday if you decide to join the group.
Thanks Newby40's. I am going to wait and see what the weather is like. I live in Chesterfield and it will take about 40 mins to get there - in normal weather conditions. Also my son (14) plays football most Sundays and I usually go to watch him. Dilemma!
newby40's 11-01-2010, 21:30 Thomps you could just do 1 a month then the parent guilt thing won't get you.
That's quite a good idea Newby40. His dad is always there anyway to watch him but it's a 'mum' thing. Hope you enjoyed last Sunday. Are you going this Sunday? Again, dependent on the weather I may join in! I will post on here if I can make it.
vwkittie 17-01-2010, 08:44 Hi everyone, I'm new to this forum and have just seen this board. The walking group sounds good, I think I'd like to come along on the 24th - when will the full details of the walk get put up does anyone know?
It'd be a great first walk for me as I only live at Stocksbridge but have still never been up to the crags!
Hi vwkittie.
The details of walks are usually posted after the previous walk. So, for example, we're off on a walk now & either when we get back tonight, or tomorrow, a thread will be statred. All you need to do is post to say you are coming along
vwkittie 17-01-2010, 17:06 Great stuff I'll check back tomorrow :D

If you've never been up to the Crags you've missed a treat, the views from up there are fantastic. The best in Sheffield IMO, but having said that I'm biased cos it's my home turf and when I was a young 'un we were taken there as a treat, which took some doing cos my parents didn't have a car, so we used to walk there from High Green!
Looking forward to seeing you next week.
MissChatter 26-01-2010, 16:11 when is febs walks being posted?
