View Full Version : Rabbit & hutch stolen. How far are people willing to go..?
spiffymonkey 09-08-2005, 10:47 I have just returned from a short business trip to discover that my daughters rabbit, complete with hutch has been stolen from my back garden last night.
What kind of unfeeling moron steals a childs pet?
If anyone see or hears of a large-ish rabbit hutch for sale in the Longley area, let me know. I'm seriously getting fed up of this whole area. When we moved in it was nice and quiet, but the march of the scum from Parson Cross and Shire Green continue unabated, and the police are next to no use at all.
Just a notice to anyone in the Longley area - NOTHING IS SAFE. If you know ANYONE involved in this kind of petty theft, don't defend them because they are 'friends', just get the scum locked up. They don't deserve to be walking the streets.
sugarnspice 09-08-2005, 10:48 Oh God, that's terrible! Poor thing. That's made me very angry.
oasismark 09-08-2005, 10:53 You can't have nowt can ya.
Also it's occured to me that when you buy anything major, (house, car, bike etc.) you seam to spend loads extra on protecting it just so theaving gits can't get there hands on it.
My personal example:
House alarm £350
Car alarm £250
Bike alarm & chain £150
New door and window for house to make more secure £400.
That's over £1000, just on protecting my own possesions from theiving scumbags!
RunningFree 09-08-2005, 10:55 My mother had a bird table nicked in the middle of the night. How crazy is that!
What lowlife scumbag would do something like that?
Things like this really wind me up!
:o That's terrible!
How can someone do such a thing?
youwhatref 09-08-2005, 11:27 It is terrible although not shocking in this day and age.
I'd hazard a guess at either some teenager taking it for him/herself or their pleasure or a druggie as selling the lot will get him or her £10
Was there any distinguishing feature about this hutch. Only i saw a couple of people carrying something up the road yesterday didn't think anything of it at the time. Not sure where longley is so don't know if i'm anywhere near.

Not particularly. Bog standard hutch, opening lid and a door on the front with a wire mesh bit. Stood on 4 legs. Had a rabbit in it. About 4ftx3ftx2ft.
Longley is in between Shirecliffe, Parson Cross and Firth Park, off Herries Road.

That's what I think, too. Either that or someone locally needs a hutch and asked a friend to 'acquire' one for them. Sadly, I'm not in the least surprised that they stoop this low, but I am saddened at the state of this city.
Ah, the people i saw were carrying something a bit more like a cage and it was bigger than the one you describe.
Sorry
Im so sorry to hear about your pet, belive it or not but about 10 years ago i lived at southygreen i had planted about 50 hedging conifers down one side of the back garden, they had been there about 8mths then one morning.... they had gone:o not only that but my next door neighbour had 3 6x4 fence panels taken:o which were concreted in....:o
just shows you what kind of low lives are out there...
maybe as "i thought" of what happen to me and my neighbour at the time, the rabbit and hutch have been nicked to order??
:suspect:
That's awful
My mum lives in Longley (not for much longer if I have anything to do with it!) so I'll mention it to her just in case she hears anything on the grapevine.
Had a rabbit in it. About 4ftx3ftx2ft.
Good Grief Spiff! Wot u been feeding it on?:D
Seriously though: Hope u get it back; and soon!:)
It never ceases to amaze me what depths some people will stoop to!
When my daughter was little, I woke one morning to find her new slide (my birthday present to her) had been stolen out of the back garden - I had to look twice - I couldn't believe it
:suspect:
I hope you get it back, but to be honest, unless anyone knows who has done it, and gets in touch with you, it's quite unlikely :(
We put up a large, locked gate at the side of our house to deter people getting in to the back garden and pyracanthus (prob spelt that wrong) thorny bushes around the perimiter of the fence. It's very sad that we have to go to such lengths to protect hard earned property.

That's pretty much what we figured. Unless somebody specifically knows who ended up with it we are unlikely ever to find out.
Thanks for the support, everyone. This morning I was saddened and angry, but I am feeling a little more mellow right now. As long as the rabbit is properly cared for (presumably it will be if it was 'nicked to order') then I hope we can put this behind us.

And Asda said that their carrots weren't GM :hihi:
what breed / colour was the rabbit?
Tinkerbelle 14-08-2005, 18:54 my initial thought was "I don't believe it", but sadly these days I'd believe anything. Your daughter must be devastated. Have you thought about contacting the Star to see if they'll do a piece about it?
Hope bunny is OK
Dear spiffymonkey,
I too was sickened to read about your daughter's rabbit & hutch being stolen by low-life wasters, but this is society today thanks to soft judges, useless magistrates, vote orientated politicians & endless do-gooders.
Drag them out of the police cells at 3.00pm on a Saturday afternoon into the town centres and publicly birch the scumbags, the drop in the crime would be astounding.

I thought about it, but we decided that we'd be better off just putting it behind us. Sometimes dragging it on just prolongs the agony, as it were.
