If you are having problems tracing your family history try using the "Sheffield records on line" website. It is free and the staff are most helpfull and knowledgeable. They helped solve a problem for me in minutes that I had spent ages researching. It is superb.

I have managed to find information on Sheffield Indexers that I had searched for elsewhere without success, another good site.

Thanks for that info Harvey 19 and Tuppie. I have been stuck for a while with regard to family tree records. I shall certainly make use of the sites that you have given me. If you have any others that you have found useful then I would be grateful.

You could try Freebmd and www.familysearch.org. The beauty of Sheffield records on line is that you pose a question and others will try to help you using their experience and access to census records etc. Phil.

Thanks Gracie and Harvey 19,
As soon as we get this holiday over I shall really get down to it. I have made a note of all these sites (some of them I already knew but not all) and hopefully it will be full steam ahead. There will be no holding me now. Thanks for your help.
Happy New Year
