View Full Version : Embarrassed to be from Yorkshire? the_rudeboy 08-08-2005, 21:58 Hull City fans chanting 'You're just a town full of bombers' and 'Not enough Londoners died' at QPR fans. Sick b*stards Disco_Cat 08-08-2005, 22:13 Not the best advert for the region. Do you happen to know the score, did they do it cause they were loosing? Fareast 08-08-2005, 22:16 Rudeboy , Unfortunately , it's not just some Yorkshire football fans who behave like brain-dead morons. From what I can gather from S.F. posters , reading the papers , T.V.and radio , vast swathes of our Youf behave like this. Ginner 08-08-2005, 22:17 Originally posted by rudeboy Hull City fans chanting 'You're just a town full of bombers' and 'Not enough Londoners died' at QPR fans. Sick b*stards Nope. Those clowns aren't representative of Yorkshire folk anymore than English footy hooligans are representative of English people. They are a sad mindless miniscule minority. They exist in every walk of life in one form or another. They should be named and shamed as such..... Kristian 08-08-2005, 22:21 I find this appalling; I realise there's a lot of banter in sporting events, but this is just sick! :| 40summat 08-08-2005, 22:22 It seems to happen a lot some of the other things football fans use as taunts are .... the yorkshire ripper, hysel stadium disaster, the busby babes disaster, you name it they'll taunt you with it. Actually, i say football fans but i meant the yob element. the_rudeboy 08-08-2005, 22:23 Unfortunately , it's not just some Yorkshire football fans who behave like brain-dead morons. I dont doubt your right but its the Hull City incident that i've seen on the news Hels 08-08-2005, 22:24 Doesn't make me ashamed or embarrassed to be from Yorkshire - but it does make me wonder why this minority of mindless are allowed to walk the streets. Surely they're that dysfunctional they're a danger to themselves as well as everyone else? timo 08-08-2005, 22:48 The silly little boys responsible are not even representative of Hull [usually nice types in my experience], let alone Yorkshire. There is no need for anyone but the moronically-stupid oafs themselves to feel ashamed and embarrassed. Well-adjusted, mature, adult men do not behave like this. Sheffette 08-08-2005, 22:55 But the original bombers were from Leeds? Surely some mistake on the part of Hull there, don't you think? I hope it comes back to haunt them! :| K x the_rudeboy 08-08-2005, 23:06 But the original bombers were from Leeds? Surely some mistake on the part of Hull there, don't you think? They're obviously thick braindead pr*cks. It just sickens me that people can behave in such a way........from yorkshire or not. redrobbo 08-08-2005, 23:14 Originally posted by Sheffette But the original bombers were from Leeds? Surely some mistake on the part of Hull there, don't you think? The taunts were aimed at a London club (Queens Park Rangers) - and the bombers were in London. If the reports are accurate, then these so-called football supporters are nothing more than mindless morons, who pay no respect to the dead and injured, and lack social values. Sadly, they do not appear to be confined to Hull. Sheffette 08-08-2005, 23:18 Originally posted by redrobbo The taunts were aimed at a London club (Queens Park Rangers) - and the bombers were in London. Yes but they were on a 'day trip' from God's Own County weren't they? Sheffette 08-08-2005, 23:20 BTW, if anyone thinks I'm just being pedantic about the 'facts' of the chant rather than what was said in the first place, I can only agree with what other folks have said on here. Bunch of fools. Longcol 08-08-2005, 23:33 One of the things that puts me off going to footy matches (especially with my lads) is that wherever you go - and this even applies to places like Scunthorpe, Doncaster and Chesterfield - there is a small, vociferous element of morons (aged 15 - 50) who seem to get their pleasure out of taunting the opposition fans. Most of them don't even appear to watch the game. nearenuff 09-08-2005, 05:21 went to millmoor on sat to watch us play walsall, chants from the tivoli end aimed at there manager, merson is a smack head.i personaly found this to be harsh but fair Delboy3 09-08-2005, 05:23 Originally posted by Longcol One of the things that puts me off going to footy matches (especially with my lads) is that wherever you go - and this even applies to places like Scunthorpe, Doncaster and Chesterfield - there is a small, vociferous element of morons (aged 15 - 50) who seem to get their pleasure out of taunting the opposition fans. Most of them don't even appear to watch the game. I don't believe that anyone should be ashamed of coming from Yorkshire just because a bunch of Football hooligans carry on like the idiots they are. What does intrigue me is that all Football clubs have their bad elements and they are well known to the police and clubs as being hooligans. Why are they allowed to attend matches as they don'y attend to watch the game, only to stir up trouble between fans. Everytime there are games such as the European cup and world cup held in other countries, The minority of fans have given the impression to the rest of the world that all Brits are hooligans as we can't go anywhere without ending up on the front page of some tabloid or on the news. Our teams represent our country whilst some of the fans are hell bent on destroying any respect that other nations have for us. The only way to curb the hooliganism would be to ban Football as a spectator sport and have each game televised live at a cost. It would also be a good idea to stop public houses from screening games as alcohol and football do not go together as seen with the altercations between fans who get drunk and then go out looking for rival fans from another pub in the area. coopster1974 09-08-2005, 05:52 You could always say they're from Humberside!!! willman 09-08-2005, 07:25 im with coopster hulls not in yorkshire according to the people from hull. unfortunately the taunters aren't all yobs.you would be surprised at the number of 30-40 somethings chanting along, although i don't condone the content it's no different to the sudden rush of tasteless jokes that appear soon after a major accident or disaster. the_rudeboy 09-08-2005, 08:10 It would also be a good idea to stop public houses from screening games as alcohol and football do not go together as seen with the altercations between fans who get drunk and then go out looking for rival fans from another pub in the area. So the rest of us 'normal' people should be deprived because of a small minority of morons? Surely the solution is to weed them out? Fareast 09-08-2005, 08:17 Rudeboy , I absolutely agree . There's a tendency in this country to ban things for everybody , instead of going to the trouble of weeding out the minority---the thick dumb-dumbs who spoil life for everybody------and not just in football. If we freed-up the police and dished out some harsh sentences on conviction ,we might start to clean up public life a bit. willman 09-08-2005, 08:45 Originally posted by Delboy3 The only way to curb the hooliganism would be to ban Football as a spectator sport and have each game televised live at a cost. i dont support the verbal rantings of a minority, but surely chanting although unpleasant is not holiganism. all the cricket players admit to "verbally antagonising" opponents on the field. SWFC fans on th kop used to chant @ Pressman when he took a goal kick - in relation to his weight. it's all part of the experience. march 09-08-2005, 11:58 It was a stupid and thoughtless thing to do but for people who will use it to put down all of Hull (or Yorkshire), there were only about 30 people chanting. A lot of people are under the impression the majority of the 20,000 home fans were involved. The "Not enough londoners died" chant never happened, the News of the World made that up or took the word of a couple of QPR fans. 40summat 09-08-2005, 12:10 From what iv'e seen on tv a lot of the chanters were turned upon by other hull fans and police had to prevent a clash between the morons and the proper fans. I hope this means the culprits can be identified easier and banned from attending football grounds. Delboy3 09-08-2005, 19:28 Originally posted by rudeboy So the rest of us 'normal' people should be deprived because of a small minority of morons? Surely the solution is to weed them out? Surely if the normal fans thought enough of what was going on around them and stopped the small minority then there would be no problem. What is the problem is that the majority always allow the small minorities to do what they want then complain about the outcome afterwards. The football minority are the ones that make the majority look like thugs and idiots. the_rudeboy 09-08-2005, 19:48 Surely if the normal fans thought enough of what was going on around them and stopped the small minority then there would be no problem. And how do you propose we do that? If i'm in the pub watching a game with a couple of mates and a gang of half a dozen idiots kick off then I'm hardly likely to do or say anything am I? You know as well as I do that they always hunt in packs. I don't disagree with what you're saying and we all need to stand up and be counted to eradicate these morons but we've got to be realistic about it.....its not as simple as saying "Oi mate thats not a nice thing to say" Delboy3 10-08-2005, 05:14 Originally posted by rudeboy And how do you propose we do that? As I said earlier, The police and the clubs know of 90% of the trouble makers that attend the grounds. Why is it then that year after year, these known idiots are allowed to be a part of the club that they represent? There seems to be no detterant and no system in place at football grounds to stop these people from entering or sorting them out after the fact. Could it be that the small minority is actually larger than we know and that the ticket sales are more important to the clubs than the problems associated with some of their fans? |
