So this year we have xfactor Joe up against FATM. I am a fan of neither and I think many people are buying RATM just to stop Joe and the Simon cash cow getting to number one.

If you could choose, who would you love too see at number one this Christmas? (Not just from those 2, but ANY song).

Mine is Frankie goes to hollywood - power or love or DJ shadow - Blood on the motorway.

I'd just like a song that was actually about Christmas and one that wasn't a foregone conclusion before it even went on sale.

Who remembers Christmas songs that weren't about Christmas?

agreed. Pieman Bowel is just pandering to kids and their mums. Us adults that appreciate real, proper music want a look in

As it's that time of year again I thought I would resurrect this thread. My original preference for keeping Cowell et al off the number one spot was the growing campaign to get John Cage's 4'33'' minutes of silence to number one. Imagine the reaction of the radio stations .. effectively having to 'go off air' for over 4 and a half minutes to play the number one - would they even do it?

However, I have just come across the following track, which not only has a cracking tune, but also has a message for these dark times:

I'll Be Home For Christmas by Doris Day.
I actually like her version more than Bing Crosby's.
