THE VIOLET MAY are rooted in Sheffield, but their sound is influenced by a much broader spectrum. Formed in early 2009, the band has earned a reputation for a raukus live show, with loud and lunatic tunes, leaving many a venue battered and bruised all across the UK and audiences hooked on the energy produced by a band in its raw stages. .. Already getting press attention, both locally and nationally, the band are now working with Liam O'Shea (Mixed in Sheffield) & Douglas Hart (The Jesus & Mary Chain). Singer Chris McClure's aggresive charm is backed by the dirty guitar work of John Kubicki & Jono How, while the rhythm section of Dan Booth (Bass) & Alan Whittaker (Drums) have forged their own powerful live reputation.

Making a very welcome return to Penelopes, having played as part of Tramlines 09 Festival, last July. Spit n Srtings are in a category of their own when it comes to Sheffield Hip-Hip. with lyrics that make you laugh and cry.
