Ok this is pretty hard as i have never stopped thinking about her since as far back as i can remember.
Please don't get me wrong I love my family now and i would never change them for the world. They have given me the best bringing up i could have ever hoped for and i know from a letter from my birth mum that, that is what she wanted. But when walking through town you can't help but sometimes think could that be her?
Well i was adopted at 4 weeks and i have lots of information, full family history, photograph of my mum and my brother, a pervious address and other details.
I just don't know what to do with it all.
I tried the Council adoption department and to be honest am still waiting for a phone call after providing all my information and that was nearly two years ago.
I hope that someone can help.

Try putting her name and all the information you have on the Sheffield History and Ex-pats section on here. I think there is a service you can get on the internet, people finder or something, may cost something though. Or you could always try ringing one of these morning chat shows like the new Jeremy Kyle show on ITV or Trisha (channel 5) who may be able to help you find your mum. If it was the council adoption service, get back in touch with them and insist that they give you the information you need or to talk to someone, everyone has the right to find their mother. Good luck!

I wish you luck too, but you should remember that your mother may not wish to be found, and prepare yourself for that dissapointment.

The trouble with putting the information on a public forum is, you don't know your mums circumstances at the moment. You may cause her problems by doing so or possibly alienate her before you get to meet her
Try pestering the adoption dept, make them thoroughly sick of you.....it's what you should have done two years ago!

The council's Social Services Department should have a designated counsellor to take you through the necessary procedures of trying to locate your birth mother. I cannot understand the wait of two years - so am uncertain what stage you may have reached? Do ring or write to them again.

Thank you all!
i will give them a call tomorrow at work!
I really don't want to post anything about her on here as i would not like it if someone did that about me.
But thanks for teh suggestion.
Andy i have thought alot about this and i will be a upset if she does not want to meet me but i will understand as she will have her reasons.

I'm pretty positive there's a national register for adopted "children" and birth parents and siblings of adopted children, the official website link to which I'm sure someone SF will know about.

That's a really good point Miss Feathers.
I wish you all the luck in the world in finding ( & hopefully getting to know) your birth mother.
