Yes, it was The Mailcoach over 8 years ago. Then it was Scruffy Murphy's, Muse, and then Dogma. The Wick isa newly refurrbished venue, and has a completely different concept to any of the previous owners - so we think it is actually fairly necessary to change the name.

Was in there last night and it was nice and busy- On a Tuesday as well. Fantastic new venue that deserves a visit from anyone that likes fine alcoholic beverages and a nice, friendly and fun atmosphere. Not too pricey either, my friends and I were at bungalows and bears beforehand and I was disappointed with the atmosphere (a mix of drunks and poseurs though it's not always like that as I have genuinely enjoyed it there in the past) and I didn't like the hefty, verging on offensive prices at all so it was a refreshing change to move on to somewhere less intimidating and more affordable.

I have no agenda whatsoever in praising this place, to the contrary I co-run Mentholmans@West St Live across the road (you could say we're rivals cos of the close proximity, but I don't see it tht way as we each offer a different kind of night out) and I often proactively choose to spend my nights off here in my workplace because our prices are so good on so many lines and we have lots of fantastic bands on. But... there are times I just need to get away and relax in a different environment and TWABE is by far and away my favourite new place to do that. I genuinely look forward to paying more visits there in the future and can't recommend it enough. I just hope the townies and poseurs don't discover it and ruin it lol.
