Hi, can anyone tell me the name of the pub underneath the hotel on Leopold Street in the 70's, I used to go quite a lot many moons ago but cannot rember the name. Probably to much of what they served.

do you mean the one that last time I looked was called Brownstreet? i think

used to be the Fountain Bar
and before that the Pig and Whistle.......but that's as far back as I can remember.

Thanks for the replies, I remember the Pig and Whistle but I'm afraid it's before that. Bit of a old sod now, I can't rember the pub but I can remember the hole in the road.

Why did you fall down it after you had been to said pub????lol

It was the BUCCANEER but originally it was the Grand Hotels Cocktail Bar.

I didn't fall down a hole in the road I mean't the subway in the town centre, although I did fall down a few times on the High Street (especially saturday nights after being in the Wap)

I cannot imagine how the "Grand Hotel cocktail lounge" became the Bucaneer?!?!
its amazing what you can do with a few gallons of black paint and 200 plastic beer 'glasses' i spent many a friday wobbling up and down between the buck and the nelson, then on to the penthouse for more of the same.aahh happy days. there is a good thread about these places if you do a search.
