I went a few times on a Saturday afternoon with my friends but it was very tatty and looked as if it should be closed then. We used to call it the bug hut most of the seats were torn but it showed good children's films.

Hi Johnny P,
I can remember going to the Woodhouse Cinema (bug hut) to see Rock around the Clock. It was a madhouse!! Someone picked one of the seats up to sit in another place. There was cigs flying down from the balcony...people bopping in the isles. It was 1957 I was 14 at the time. My husband used to call it THE STAB!!! I don't know if anyone else knew it as that name!
It was just opposite the old butchers shop...there was a sweet shop at one side, and Mr Fox.s drapers shop at the other side.
Wonderful memories!!!

We might have been at the same showing. I remember people jiving in the aisles then getting thrown out. In those days, you got all around entertainment at those old picture houses. Great memory. :hihi:
