I'm after some black rubber checker plate material as used for flooring. They use it for pick-up beds in America.

Depends on how much you want.

I remember seeing some when doing the rounds of tile shops, tile depot rings a bell.
Other than that try a flooring trade suppliers

I'm after little more than offcuts. A couple of square meters or so.
